Missing OP's

Lately, when I open threads, most of them come up ok. However, sometimes the thread will be missing the OP. All of the other posts by posters will still be there, replying to the OP, but the first post in the thread is not by the same person who started the thread.

Some examples that I were able to find were these:

http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=21810 This thread is “Dutch stuff- Coldfire welcome” in Great Debates. It was started by SqrlCub, but the first post that I see is by Polycarp.

http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=21059 This thread is “Who here is queer?” in MPSIMS. It was started by Esprix, but the first post I see is by waterj2.

I have tried refreshing within the thread to find these posts, and in the forum. Going back to the thread a day or so later still leaves the OP missing. Is there anything I can do about this?

A lot of the older threads that existed before the board converted to the VBullitin software were scrambled during the conversion process. I know of some cases where the OP is buried on the second page.

Keith

There was a related side effect of the conversion that made the lowest numbered threads not the earliest.
** What was the first post on this board?**
** Thread #1?**
You might find this thread of interest.
** Finding Old Threads?**
Old threads and links

Both Odieman and Tshirts are correct.

All the threads cited are older ones, prior to our conversion to the vB system.

We’re not perfect. Sorry about that.

Stupid me. I had the vague feeling when I posted this that I was overlooking something, but checking the date of the threads didn’t come to mind. Thank you for the clairification.

Naah. Not at all. In a normal world, you would start at the beginning and not in the middle with the beginning being somewhere else in the thread.
