I’m going to work the 7PM-7AM shift at the Astroarena medical facility tonight and probably tomorrow night. My buddy and I are going to go work in a tag team (he’s an intern so he’s carrying the all important MD while I’ll just do the med student scut).
If you are missing someone or looking for someone, email me (email in the profile) or post a name in this thread, I’ll print out a list, and if I run into them at the Astroarena, I’ll email you back/post it back in this thread.
Will do. I’ll bring in a few pads, but I’m kind of limited by the amount I can carry/fit in my pocket. I’ll let you guys know how it goes and I’ll try to post messages.
I will call or e-mail too. My e-mail is in my profile.
I think we should also request a code word, so the people we’re calling don’t think we’re kooks. Maybe just an identifying phrase, like, “I’m calling for Jim Smith, who has a birthmark on his right knee. He’s at the Astodome and he’s fine.” Also, remember the people we’re calling will want more information, so if there’s a way the family members can contact the Astrodome might be helpful.
hello. i’m calling on behalf of _______. i’m one of a group of volunteers who is passing along messages that were given to another volunteer at the astrodome.
the message is ____________________ .
Thanks to edwino and Can’tUseMyRealName for the great ideas, and quilter and I are more than happy to contribute to this valiant effort. I’m not sure that the code words are necessary – I’d be happy to hear from anyone with any reputed message from a family member in such circumstances – but we’ll go along with whatever requests come along from Ed.
I’m in, e mail is in my profile
[hijack] Right after the 94 Northridge quake I could not call my wife’s parents, but I could get out on my companys WATTS line to our headquarters in NY. I asked one of our people in NY to call her parents in Oregon to tell them we were OK. Words cannot tell just how grateful they were to get that phone call. They still think my company is the best.[/hijack]
