Why is it that when kids are missing teeth they are so darn cute.
But when an adult has missing teeth it’s ugly
Because kids are *supposed *to have missing teeth, and adults aren’t?
For the same reason why a baby burping vomit on the dog is cute, but when Larry the drunken hobo does it, people start calling the cops.
Hmmm. Maybe I’m the only one. I think it’s gross when anyone has missing teeth, adult or kid.

Kids are cutest when they have all their teeth and they’re all straight.
Kids lose teeth as part of the process of growing up. Adults are kids who have already done that.

You know. Upon seeing this thread I formed an image in my head of a kid with a missing tooth. It was a cute image.
Then I google imaged “child with missing tooth” and it turns out kids are cute despite missing teeth, not because of them.
Yeah, but the first is an attractive picture of an attractive kid. The second is a horrible picture of a kid who may or may not be attractive, but looks downright hid in that picture.
The gums skeeve me the most.
Commercial casting directors will quite often demand that any child submitted for a project have perfect smiles or wear a flipper.
As to why missing teeth are less unattractive in children than in adults, it would seem to be simply that they are signs of growth, rather than of decay.
I think it’s that it’s a more common sight, and therefore we’re used to seeing it. Anything we’re used to seeing is less unpleasant.
Does anyone remember being a kid when you had a missing tooth? Remember how it would be fun to put your tongue in the gap?
I first noticed this because I was watching Family Affair in reruns and Buffy and Jodie are missing teeth. I also remember a few times where I could see Opie missing a tooth.
But I don’t recall any of the Brady’s or Partridges or Full House kids with missing teeth.
I still think it’s cute
Presumably, the kids’ teeth are going to grow back.
My mom told me it would make my teeth grow in crooked, so I didn’t do it. But it felt good anyway.
