You were the lead designer for Rainbow Six?

The Aesthetic of Play is up on Amazon and they’re accepting pre-orders!
And I got some nice reviews from my pre-release readers.
preordered!
Looks fascinating. My wife’s eyes lit up when I mentioned it to her.
Especially amazing stuff for a emeritus professor of petrology. ![]()
preordered, can’t wait to read it!
So, it’s out! I got my free copies yesterday!
I’m currently trending well on Amazon. I’m in the top ten for game design books and I’m #1 on their list “Hot New Releases” in game programming. John Scalzi is doing me a favor and featuring my book on his blog next week, so hopefully that will have an effect as well.
I got my copy today! It looks good. Very sleek and modern feel. I’m only about a chapter and a half in but it’s intriguing as hell. Despite the definitely academic cast, it reads pretty easily. I’ve only had to look up one word so far.
What was it?
Ergodic and I’m still not sure I understand it.
It’s a problematic term. It’s how Espen Aarseth distinguishes interactive texts from traditional linear ones, but I’m not keen on Aarseth’s approach so you won’t encounter it much going forward. In general I try to use familiar terms wherever possible.
Congratulations, New Book Author!
Any chance you will release the book in Kindle format?
It’s definitely coming out in Kindle, not sure on the release date.
I see the official UK release date is 30th April, in case anyone’s looking for it over here… Should be £20.95
