This postseason must’ve been a big tease for you, I’m guessing. I’m not a Dodger fan but I truly thought, at the beginning of the wild card series, that the Dodgers winning it all was a foregone conclusion. They were so strong!
Very entertaining game. I shouldn’t have watched to the end. I’m hurting at work right now.
I’m glad Castellanos had that important play in the field because he looked awful at the plate. He didn’t look like he belonged in the big leagues. If I was playing against him I wouldn’t throw him a strike until he shows he can draw a walk or two and not chase balls a foot out of the strike zone.
Also excellent call by the ump at the end. Aledmys Diaz did purposely get hit by that pitch and should not have been given the base. It’s fitting he made the last out.
Very glad I’m on the West coast at times like this. I really couldn’t handle this if I still lived in the east. I think they’re starting an hour earlier tonight, so that’s even better
I really enjoyed the game, but thought about turning it off at the bottom of the 3rd.
Was it another moment of disrespecting the baseball gods when Dusty Baker was laughing with Kyle Tucker when they were up 5-0? I can still visualize Dusty handling the “game ball” to Russ Ortiz in game 6 of the 2002 World Series. Even though the Giants won in 2010 2012 and 2014, 2002 still hurts quite a bit.
On the Dusty Baker subject, I don’t get the common sentiment of “aw, I hope the Astros win it for Dusty.” Dusty Baker HAS A WORLD SERIES RING. He won it as a player in 1981. Does everyone now have to have one from each specific role they’ve ever had?
No, not everyone. Just Dusty. He has managed five different teams into the postseason — every team he has managed. He is the first to manage five different teams to the division title. And he stepped into a terrible situation in Houston with their cheating scandal, bringing integrity back to a damaged organization. He has remodeled that team and they have a strong lineup and pitching staff. He is one of baseball’s good guys and as such many people have him as a sentimental favorite.
So yes, I am one of many who say win it for Dusty!
It’s pretty clear that Framber Valdez is hiding the sticky stuff in his hair. Okay, probably not. The guy is a stud, but watching him readjust his hair between every pitch is annoying as watching hitters constantly futzing with their batting gloves.
ETA: How is that Valdez makes 31 starts, pitches 200 innings with a 2.82 ERA and 3.06 FIP, and is only credited with 3.7 WAR?
