MLB 2025-26 Offseason

I hope Vivas gets some playing time in Washington. He’s probably not going to be anything more than a utility player in MLB, but in 3000 minor league plate appearances he had a .378 OBP. There’s some promise there. If he wasn’t out of options the Yankees would have kept him for depth.

Phillies pitcher Daniel Robert had a cardiac event and collapsed on the mound. He has since been released from the hospital. Last October he went into cardiac arrest and was revived by Phillies training staff. He had an internal defibrillator implanted. He has practiced but has not pitched in a spring training game this season. His baseball future is uncertain.

Yikes. Seems like his non-baseball future is uncertain, too.

The Chicago Cubs and Pete Crow-Armstrong appear close on a long-term deal. Financial terms not released yet.

Update: 6 years, $115 million.

Happy Opening Day Eve everyone!

In a move that is starting to rival Bobby Bonilla Day, the Los Angeles Angels have placed Anthony Rendon on the 60 day IL.

Yu Darvish will start the season on the Restricted List, meaning that the Padres will not have to pay him during that span. He’s owed $15 million for this season.
