MLB: 2025 Postseason

I’m not saying they need to make contact. I’m saying “two strikes, swing at anything.”

I think many batters do that, and you see a lot of long at-bats where the batter is fouling off pitches well outside the strike zone over and over again because of that exact philosophy.

When you are down 3-0 in the 9th after losing game 1 of a 3 game series, you didn’t lose because of one bad pitch call. It was disgusting how some of the players tried to go after the umps at the end of the game. There better be some serious sanctions handed down.

And not just that, but the pitcher knows he’s got the batter where he wants him, when it’s an 0-2 count. The pitcher will deliberately throw pitches just outside or on the edge of the strike zone at that point, to get the batter to chase after them and thus strike out.

Then fans get angry at swinging at an “obvious” ball. Believe or not, baseball players aren’t stupid and they’ve figured out that always swinging with two strikes isn’t the best strategy.

I don’t understand how anyone makes contact with major league pitching these days. “Just swing” seems as good of a strategy as any - especially with this level of filth coming at you:

Swinging at what you can plainly see is ball four would be mighty stupid. The Padres needed baserunners, so Bogaerts made the correct choice. The bad call doesn’t mean the Padres would have won the game, though.

Brewers piling it on early. 6-1.

Damn, Vlad ripped a big homer, 1-0 Jays over Yanks going into the second.

Chose to watch CFB instead of the Cubs today. The Illini won, so that was a good choice.

Well, that wasn’t a good start, lol. I didn’t see about half of the at-bats (got company, jeez go home) but the balls and strikes umpiring looked fine to me.

The Dodgers already showed in the wild card round that they can only win by jumping out to a big lead and then hoping their awful bullpen won’t leak too much in the eighth inning. Now against the Phillies, all their deficiencies are going to be exposed.

Jays barely beat the Yankees with a 10-1 score.

It twas brutal.

Or not

Dodgers win, Yankees lose. It’s been a good baseball day.

Now if only the Mariners can get it done…..

With 2 outs Seattle should have walked Carpenter.

Mariners’ game now in extra innings.

Toronto won a playoff game for the first time in nine years. Alejandro Kirk hit two home runs. It’s the fourth time in Blue Jays history a Jay has hit two homers in the playoff game - and the first time the Jays won the game.

Milwaukee scored six in the first inning against the Cubs. They sure still look like the best team in baseball.

LA’s bullpen held up. Ohtani went six innings, tying his longest start of the year.

Is this Seattle-Detroit game the first extra inning game in the playoffs so far? I think so.
