If the Angels want to re-sign Ohtani, isn’t it a good thing that his price has likely dropped?
Am I missing something? Isn’t this the ol’ put them waivers deal and pull them back if nobody wants to make a deal? Or did they outright release them?
Teams can no longer pull players off the waiver - so these are outright releases. The trade deadline at August 1 was the only one there is now. If another team picks them up, the new team pays their pro-eats salary for the rest of the season.
