What the hell? Instead of an American League city, the 2016 game will be in San Diego with the AL as the home team. Then another NL city, Miami, in 2017. Then ANOTHER NL city, Washington, in 2018 presumably with the AL as the home team. WTF??? There are 15 AL cities. What’s wrong with an AL city in 2016 and 2018?
That’s why Ichiro is with the Marlins instead.
It’s especially bullshit considering the All Star game actually counts for something. Even though the AL will be the “home” team it won’t be a home team atmosphere for them.
MLB’s priority is showing off new stadiums. Getting cities to build them free new stadiums is a huge part of their business model.
So the Braves just extended Fredi Gonzales’s contract. All my Braves fans friends are super-pissed. Though it isn’t necessarily a surprise. A cynical view of it would have been that the Braves obvious don’t care about how successful they are in their last two years in the Ted. They’ll actually start trying once they’ve moved out to the new part in the 'burbs. At that time they’ll also get a decent manager. Of course it is one of the more obvious ways of a club saying fuck you to the fans.
I don’t see how that would benefit the Braves.
Nationals Park is having a lighting problem. Would be really weird if the Dodgers/Nats game gets called on account of darkness.
Yep, they’ve postponed the game until later today. Has this ever happened in a lighted ballpark before?
It’s raining in Phoenix. The D-Backs have their dome up, but it’s leaking.
Zack Grienke hasn’t allowed a run in his last 43 2/3 innings pitched, the 3rd longest streak in Dodger history. He still has a ways to go, though. Hershiser holds the record with 59, followed by Drysdale with 58.
Only 2 more consecutive complete game shutouts to go! It’s pretty impressive. I read somewhere that Fernando Valenzuela had two very long streaks his rookie year that together are even more impressive. Something like one run in 78 innings or something similarly insane I’m too lazy to look it up.
Go Greinke! Kershaw has narrative working against him (though yesterday’s game was nuts good) so it’s up to Zack to keep the Cy Young with the Dodgers.

Except in the All-Star Game…go, AL! Go, Royals!
The Drysdale record will forever be tainted by a pro-Dodger umpire who refused to allow Giants batter Ron Hunt to take a base with the bases loaded when he was hit by a pitch by claiming that Hunt made no effort to get out of the way of the pitch.
Cole Hamels got knocked out of his second start in a row. Has his long term contract made him not concentrate any more?
Many rumors that he’s headed to an AL team, but Hamels has terrible numbers in interleague play. I hope the Red Sox get him.
Indians beat the Reds 5-3 in 11 innings today. The Indians scored the first four (needed) runs on Bases loaded walks. The last run scored on a sacrifice fly. They almost scored one on a hit, but Moss was throw out at the plate for the third out of the inning.
Anyone know what the record is for most bases-loaded walks in a game?
Never mind. Not even close to a record for one inning:
April 22, 1959, the White Sox scored 11 runs in the seventh inning on only one hit. Kansas City A’s pitchers walk 8 with bases loaded and hit another batter.

Pick-up games don’t count - only real baseball.
If that was ever true of any batter, it would have been true of Ron Hunt, who like Don Baylor really did try to get hit by pitches.
