MLB: July

Right ankle fracture just confirmed. Definitely season ending, hopefully not career ending, but man, it looked bad.

The Dodgers complete their sweep of the Blue Jays 8-3 in 10 innings. It wasn’t pretty, but it was the Dodgers. Leave men on base all game long, then when it gets to crunch time, Ethier, Ellis et all go to town on the bullpen.

Umm…I do now?

Reading this thread makes me wish DC had a MLB team.

I know how you feel. We used to have one in San Francisco…

I mean, really. If the team was just “bad”, I’d be OK with it. Every team goes through “rebuilding phases”. But this is essentially the same team that won World Series last year. They *have *the talent (and occasionally they even show evidence of that fact). But this team is failing in pretty much every facet of the game lately. They can’t pitch; they can’t hit, they can’t play defense. All at the same time. Sure, all players go through slumps, but 25 guys slumping at the same time? And yes, there have been lots of injuries, and that’s going to take its toll. But when your outfielders can’t do simple things like “fielding”, that’s another thing altogether.

It’s just maddening…

:mad::mad::mad:

I’m sorry Plankton. Now I feel bad.

If it was any other team, so would I. But it’s the Giants, so fuck 'em.
:stuck_out_tongue:

What’s killing me about the Nats is that it’s pretty much the same guys as last year and the fun has gone out of it all. Last year was fun, the park would be rocking and the players looked like they were having a blast.

Tonight’s pitching matchup in the Reds v Dodgers series should be a good one. Mat “Missing T” Latos at 9-3 with a 3.53 ERA versus Greinke at 8-2 with a 3.36 ERA.

Looking forward to this series as a measuring stick to see if the suddenly hot Reds can hang with the hottest team in baseball right now in their home park.

Wrong thread

Through four innings this pitching duel has delivered the goods.

And right as I type that, Jay Bruce hits a two run homer off Greinke. 4-1 Redlegs. Yay!

But it’s far from over with the bats the Dodgers have in their arsenal.

I am listening to the dodger game and reading the internet and I came across this article that I thought readers of this thread would like.

Forget PEDs, Baseball is fun as hell right now.

Here comes the Cuban Missile with a three run lead…

whew

Chapman made it interesting but Reds prevail. Sorry, Asimovian…you seem a decent sort.

Hopefully the Reds can keep this momentum going…will be interesting to see which Homer Bailey shows up tomorrow…he’s a Jekyll and Hyde pitcher…

This is the same physician who proclaims that if a person is asymptomatic, they don’t have an injury.

You should know that’s nonsense when you’re still in med school.*

*and how stupid was it for Rodriguez to get a second opinion from a doctor who was previously disciplined for improper prescribing of steroids?

I wonder how they found each other. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yay! Nice read. Didn’t mention any Reds, though.

Harumph.

I didn’t really expect the Dodgers to sweep the Reds, but I’m still hoping to win the series. I’ll be in the stands tonight, hoping Kershaw can show Bailey what a no-hitter looks like from the other side! (Too optimistic? A man can dream, can’t he?)

And I think Chapman hit 102 on the Dodger Stadium gun three times last night. Serious freak of nature.
