I can’t believe the Mets season is almost over before the break. 5.5 games out of the 3rd wild card.
I’m a Nats fan. Tell me about it.
True, but no one was expecting anything from the Nats. The Mets are a mess of thrown away money and players aging rapidly
I’m a Cardinals fan and the only other fan I’ll feel sorry for is an A’s fan.
The Cardinals haven’t lost 99 games since 1913 - I don’t have too much room to feel bad for St. Louis fans.
Baseball setting some nice attendance numbers. Father’s Day weekend, and a 3 day weekend for many plus generally mild weather across much of the USA

The Mets have the highest payroll in MLB and they’re 34-38.
The Padres have the third highest, and they’re 35-37.
(The second highest are the Yankees, of course, who at least are in a playoff spot.)
Money not well spent, I guess.
If you go by winning percentage here are their payroll ranks:
- Rays - 27th
- Braves - 8th
- Rangers - 9th
- Orioles - 29th
- Diamondbacks - 21st
- Marlins - 22nd
- Giants - 11th
- Angels - 6th
- Yankees - 2nd
- Dodgers - 5th
Unfortunately, the Rays are also 27th in home attendance
I don’t get it. You’re gonna lose that girl.
Oh, I get it. They play in a shit park that is insanely hard to get to for most of the fanbase.
The Rays actually have quite good local TV numbers. The problem is that getting to Tropicana Field can take hours from almost everywhere in the Rays’ market, and when you get there, you’re in Tropicana Field. No team in baseball gives its fans a more appealing reason to watch the game on TV.
They’re stuck there through 2027.
Yeah, I’ve tried to work in a Rays game every time I’m in Tampa and it’s just soul crushing seeing as my family lives in Tampa. It is such a pain to get to.
Didn’t expect Marcus Stroman to be leading the NL in ERA as of now.
If the Rays stay in the Tampa Metro, they need a new stadium just a little east of Tampa. The current stadium is probably the worst in baseball and a terrible location.
Something near where Highways 4 & 75 cross would be great for a new stadium.
I don’t have a map right here, but I think you mean east of Tampa
Damn, yes. Thank you. East of Tampa. I’ll fix that above.
Right now the AL Central leaders, the Twins, are two games under ,500. The AL East’s LAST PLACE team, the Red Sox, are four games above .500. The Red Sox are 10-4 against AL Central opponents.
A new MLB stadium west of Tampa would certainly be a novelty experience worth the trip!
“Well Bill, I don’t know if you can really call that an error on the shortstop, that rogue wave really rocked the stadium!”
Both the Reds and the Giants with ten game winning streaks.
Been a long time since I’ve been eager to see the Reds, supposedly Ella De La Cruz is quite a player.
Several streaks going (as of 6/22):
Reds - W11
Giants - W10
Braves - W7
A’s - L7
Rockies - L8
Pirates - L9
Well, I guess one could argue Clearwater is west of Tampa. Yeah, they’re mostly separated by a bay. Clearwater has many of the same disadvantages as St. Petes, though; it can become insanely hard to drive there at the wrong time of day.
I was just introduced to ImmaculateGrid.com the other day. It’s another puzzle-of-the-day where you have a 3x3 grid, and you have to enter baseball players that match the intersections. I haven’t gotten one yet, but have a couple 8s. I should have today, but whiffed hard on a TB Rays .300 hitter (hint, Evan Longoria never hit .300).
Speaking of Elly De La Cruz, just hit for the cycle.
