MLB-June 2025

I just came across this clip. The day after Armando Gallaraga’s perfect game was stolen by a bad call on what should have been out 27, umpire Jim Joyce met him at home plate to shake his hand and apologize. Joyce is visibly upset and apologetic, clearly knowing that his miscall cost Gallaraga a chance at the history books. It’s a real testament to Joyce, who I understand to be a widely regarded as a great umpire many respect.

I really honestly don’t know why Selig and now Manfred haven’t overruled this. What would be lost by admitting this mistake?
