MLB: March/April 2025

I did indeed. I usually squeeze in a Bears road game mostly every year. I’ve done London, Kansas City, Vegas, Nashville, New York, Lambeau and will probably do DC this year.

Baseball fans and football fans are wired a bit differently. I think there’s on average a lot less tourism around baseball if for no other reason than the lack of scarcity of home games.

I would have said that the odds were good that I’d make a trip to Vegas for a Cubs series someday, but Vegas is pretty much over I think. Greed and consolidation has killed that town.

The White Sox are on pace for 125 wins. They can do it!

Er, losses.

That makes more sense. I almost googled the standings when you said 125 wins.

I’m part of the Ballpark Chasers Facebook group and I often plan domestic trips around baseball, but I do think it’s a small niche and not something that a Vegas based team should count on.

I myself canceled a trip to Las Vegas back in January, I realised a few days beforehand I just didn’t want to deal with all the fucking fees and surcharges. And I’ve been there enough that I get comped rooms and a decent amount of food credit. The whole place just pisses me off.

I think my breaking point was when I was paying a hefty price to sit on the patio at Mon Ami Gabi, completely ruined by a LOUD street busker on the sidewalk and got to pay a surcharge for the privilege. That was the straw, maybe it’s petty but I’m sure there’s a $25 per day breathing fee coming soon!

I go to Vegas once a year or so to visit my uncle and go to concerts when a band I love is visiting but not hitting California. I stay off the strip and not in a casino and avoid fees. I hate casinos and the strip/downtown in general. I like to see my favorite bands and there’s great food.

A little more info on the roof collapse:

Former MLB player Esteban German said, after he was pulled from the debris, that he survived because Tony Blanco pushed him out of the way of falling rubble before dying.

No Hitter in progress. Yes, it’s the White Sox former pitcher no hitting his old team!

No hitter blown. Across the city, Cubs get awful news with Justin Steele out for the season now.

And ugh, wish Cubs were starting now rather than Sunday Night Baseball

Kris Bryant to the IL with back injuries again.

That’s a huge contract to eat, but Colorado has got to be thinking of cutting ties. I’m not sure he can ever be a big league player ever again

The poor Rockies. Worst team in baseball. They do nothing well.

And in a sport which also features the White Sox and the Athletics, that’s saying something!

ESPN to broadcast 10 Savannah Bananas games?

https://athlonsports.com/mlb/espn-makes-savannah-bananas-announcement-before-mlb-takeover

I could see broadcasting them in some lull times in the sports calendar, like the MLB all star break. But 10? I’ve never seen them. But I can’t imagine watching the Harlem Globetrotters ten times in my life, much less in a year.

Oops …

The Bananas are a ton of fun, so they may not be up your alley.

It’ll be tough for ESPN to figure out which 10 episodes of “Manufactured Outrage” to shelve to make room on their broadcast schedule.

One article I read speculated that he may never play in the majors again.

I have tickets to see the Savannah Bananas in June. Looking forward to it!

Nice, where are you seeing them? I have tickets for the Kansas City games, and a few games in Savannah, but we can’t go to the Savannah games this year.

Charlotte. I had to go through the whole lottery process so I hope it’s worth it.

Yanks just won a close one in under 2 & half hours. End on a great play by Bellinger.

Judge went 3 for 3 with a walk a the go ahead homer. He’s batting .409.
