MLB March-April 2026

Toronto has taken Jeff Hoffman out of the closer’s role.

Which makes sense. He’s 1-2 with 3 saves in 6 chances this season with a 7.59 ERA.

You’d think Toronto might have noticed the15 homers in 68 innings last season paired with the 4.37 ERA and thought maybe they should get someone else. Same kind of wierd thinking that led the Mets to give Williams 3 years/$51 million. Didn’t they notice how ineffective he was in 2025?

They thought it was just an off year, all he needed was a change of scenery. Clearly moving the long distance to Queens would make a huge difference. Or maybe they’re just dumb, I’m not sure.

Camden Yards ran out of fireworks due to the Orioles hitting too many home runs last night

Don’t they need fireworks on hand for subsequent games? Do they run out and buy some just before every game?

They hit six home runs. That’s a lot of home runs but hardly even close to some sort of record.

Here you go, this list will show when they’ve hit 6+

That’s a funny image. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m sure they probably have some leeway in when to cut off the pyro, because posting that message is frankly more fun than a 7th round of fireworks.

Red Sox shake things up. Cora out

And yet Carlos Mendoza still has a job. At least Cora won a World Series.

Angels DFA Jordan Romano

Luis Gil goes down, Dominguez called up. Fine by me, Gil looked like crap today.

If he’s up, I really hope they play him.

What are the odds Mendoza doesn’t last out the coming week? The Mets were just swept at home by the Rockies, and Mendoza’s already gotten the dreaded vote of confidence from David Stearns.

It’s clearly the manager’s fault that the Mets’ hitting has been pathetic dating back to the last half of the '25 season.

I’m surprised he’s not gone already. In post game interviews the team and manager sound dead and hopeless.

Interesting move. Minus Gil the starting pitching has been great so the bullpen hasn’t been overused. It’s still a little odd to go one short on pitchers. And it only makes the Volpe situation more difficult. I’m assuming they will be sending down a pitcher when he’s ready to play but that doesn’t help the rotation. There is no one in the bullpen that I would want starting.

A lot of roster juggling going on. They don’t need the fifth starter again until May 6th, so they’ll either start Yarbrough or bring back Gil. Gerrit Cole probably won’t make his first start until late May, so not him. Giancarlo will almost certainly be placed on the 10 day IL, so that frees a spot. Temporarily. I’d hate to lose Rosario to accomodate Volpe coming back.

A shame Jordan Romano appears to be done. Canadian hero in Toronto for awhile; he had some excellent seasons as closer, but pitchers get hurt.

If I ran the circus, bring back Volpe but get rid of Grichuk. Caballero and Rosario are versatile enough that they can serve as backup OF help to Bellanger, Grisham, Judge, and Dominguez. When Cole, Rodon, and Schmidt come back there will a need to pare down a few starters- maybe dare I say put Schlittler to the bullpen?

I don’t agree with this at all. At the moment him and Fried are the Yanks best starters, overall Cam has actually been a little better, though Fried gives us an extra inning per start which is pretty great.

Warren is the best candidate for the Bullpen. Plenty of Ks, not bad on the walks. Schmidt has little chance of cracking the rotation baring injury. So he too will be bullpen.

That would be malpractice.

Cole and Rodon will be back soon, but Schmidt won’t be pitching in MLB until August at the earliest. I don’t think anyone is expecting him to be a major contributor in 2026, but it’s nice to have him on tap if the injury bug bites hard.

Weathers and Gil are the guys who will be replaced in the rotation by Cole and Rodon.
