MLB: May 2015

Or maybe it’s time to give him his due - he accomplished what he did by playing according to the effective standards of the game at the time. Rodriguez truly was, and surprisingly still is, one of the greatest players of his era, and so were Bonds and Clemens. Yes, it’s painful to adulate total assholes, like they all are, but they did what they did.

Let’s get over it, shall we?

He is a lying cheat and basically getting away with it. Sorry, I can’t root for him, I just hope he is helpful to the the Yanks until they can get rid of him and that he doesn’t act like the cancer/distraction he often is. I will give him credit, this year he has been on his best behavior but no, I can’t root for him, just the uniform.

BTW for what it is worst, I only think he is the second biggest asshole cheat in the MLB, Ryan Braun is a bigger ass and even more deserving of universal derision for the way his lies screwed with the life of a bystander.

See, here’s the difference…Bonds was my asshole, so he’s great! ARod is a Yankee asshole, so screw him!

I’m a Yankee fan and think both are cheats and assholes.

You know, the PED issue has been around for almost 15 years. I’m not sure how people are able to manufacture outrage anymore over the issue at this point. The game marches on.

The St. Louis Matts have been doing pretty well lately.

The point is that people think that PED let ARod tie Mays’ record. The fact that it’s been around so long is exactly the point. If PED use had been short-lived, then ARod would not have hit so many home runs, and he’d not have tied Mays. That is the thinking at least.

Giants/Angels game ended with the Angels being put out in the ninth inning by a runner hit by a batted ball.

And so did the Dodgers/Diamondbacks game! Pretty damn random, especially for two games on the same day.

Involving 2 teams from Southern California.

(I refuse to say “2 teams from LA.”)

I could not come up with a way to phrase that; thank you.

Right, I know that. My point is that people need to just get the fuck over it already. It’s been hashed and rehashed, and all the manufactured outrage in the world isn’t going to change it. People bring it up like it’s a unique topic of conversation. “Well, I don’t think A-Roid’s* numbers are legit, I absolutely refuse to acknowledge them!” Yes, we know. A-Rod’s an asshole, he used PEDs, we ALL know the circumstances and the context of his numbers. Everyone has numbers with context that has to be considered. Bonds used PEDs. But Aaron used amphetamines. And Ruth didn’t face black pitchers. Are ANY of their numbers legit in a vacuum?
*See, I took his regular nickname of “A-Rod”, and added an “i” to make it “Roid”. Like “steroid”. See? I’m linking A-Rod to his PED use. It’s clever wordplay!

And, come on, did anyone *really *not know what was going on in the Steroid Era? You can pretend you didn’t even hear all the jokes, much less laugh at them. You can pretend you didn’t notice players being a lot bulkier than they used to be. You can even pretend you thought the McGwire-Sosa HR race was fueled by hard work and clean living.

But even you know better. So cut the shit. If it was even a problem, you were part of it too.

Two teams full of devil-spawn?

Yes, I may still be just a bit bitter over 2002…

Three championships in five years, and you’re worried about some nonsense from last decade? This is why Giants fans don’t deserve nice things.

Now this is the kind of thing that restores my faith in the Cubs: allowing a “little league home run.”

What the hell was the first baseman thinking on that play? It looked like he paused to interact with a fan. While I applaud his willingness to react to the fans, that was not the best time for it.

I like the Nats too. And the Cubbie Bears. But…

Let’s go Mets!

I can’t watch (without some effort) baseball games in St. Petersburg and I was super-happy to see they had a winning streak, only to lose 2/3 to the fargin Yankees.

I’m not ‘worried’ about it; I just haven’t forgotten.

Really, it was the freaking Rally Monkey…some things just can’t ever be forgiven.

The Cards and Pirates just wrapped up a three game series that went a total of 35 innings. All three were extra-innings walk-off victories for the Redbirds.
