How about them Yanks?

The Yankees just ended their streak of 8 straight games in which they beat a first place team.

What Bums.

He plays third base. Do you know who plays third base for Toronto?

I Don’t Know

You win.

That’s silly. He plays for the St. Louis team.

Wait, did he get traded? Who went to St. Louis in exchange? I mean, what did Toronto give them in exchange… Never mind.

Today, in fact.

He’s the bat boy.

And he can’t play any other position, even with coaching? Not even DH?

Maybe he’s not that good after all.

Definitely want to rush your top prospect to play him out of position on a mediocre team.

I’d take Vlad’s next five years over any other Blue Jay, including Donaldson. Doesn’t mean he should be playing in the majors.

No team is going to relegate a player than young to DH, for fear of stunting his growth as a player, which you know, so one wonders why you’d ask the question. If you want to just be disingenuous, feel free to talk to yourself about how a good young 23-year-old second baseman is a “journeyman” and let the baseball fans talk about baseball.

In what may be the dumbest baseball player injury since Trevor Bauer’s Drone Encounter, David Price has a “mild” case of carpal tunnel syndrome, but doesn’t think it’s because of his video game obsession.

You see, he’s been playing video games since childhood, so that couldn’t possibly be the cause of a syndrome known to be related to prolonged, repetitive wrist flexion. :dubious: :smack:

Carlos Zambrano had a case similar to Price’s several years ago, only it was a forearm strain, also computer-related.

Regarding the above mentioned “development vs DH” argument, what are the Mariners doing with Dan Volgelbach? He was blocked by Rizzo with the Cubs, and he seemed to be one of those “all stick, no glove” prospects that was best suited for a DH role.

Definitely not the only Blue Jays problem, but I’m getting sick and tired of Kendrys Morales, currently pulling off a career-high 25 at bats without a hit, batting .154.
I don’t know if he’s still trying to recover from his hamstring injury from last month, or if he’s approaching write-off territory, or what, but he is a .268 career hitter, so he can obviously do hella better. I guess if they sign him last season for three years at $33 million, Gibby doesn’t want to get rid of him so quickly, but I wonder if his patience is being tried. His position in the batting order has been going down a bit.

Chances are they’re all playing Fortnite. Lots of NBA and NFL players play it to obsession, so some MLBers probably do as well.

ETA: Yup. That’s the game. Apparently lots of Red Sox are playing it. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2018/05/09/game-david-price-ailment-linked-video-gaming/6IsGIJxf0WGmjMAhIbicqK/story.html

I’m afraid the Jays have one insurmountable problem. They’re in the same division as the Yankees and the Red Sox. Still, they have a shot at the #2 Wild Card spot and a shot because of the one game play in game.

Down to 21-20 now but I remain absolutely amazed the Jays are even that good. With the absolute circus the infield has been, the terrible rotation, guys hitting .150, on a surface level I cannot understand how they aren’t 14-27. I went into the numbers; how the hell do they have 21 wins? Basically,

  1. The Blue Jays have been very lucky to score as many runs as they have; they are not a good hitting team at all and yet have scored a few more runs than average. At a glance I would guess this element of luck alone has won them at least 3, 4 games, and

  2. The bullpen has been excellent.

Neither of these things cna be expected to continue so they’d better get rid of Kendrys Morales soon and hope other guys start hitting or getting healthy.

This isn’t new news, so sorry if it’s been mentioned somewhere, but April was the first calendar month in MLB history where there were more strikeouts than hits. That’s amazing to me.

I’m starting to wonder whether the Nats can do without Bryce Harper. Even with all the injuries, they have more hitters than they can fit into the lineup. Zimmerman’s going to have a tough time getting his spot back with the way Matt Adams is hitting.
