MLB Playoffs

Senga will start Game 1 for the Mets

Padres’ rotation suffers a devastating loss. Joe Musgrove is out with a UCL injury and will require Tommy John surgery. He’s not only out for the rest of the postseason; he’s in line to miss all of 2025.

Ummm…
Tigers @ Astros - road team won 2
Royal @ Orioles - road team won 2
Braves @ Padres - home team won 2
Mets @ Brewers - road team won 2, lost 1

Road teams had 6 wins, home teams had 3 wins.

Oof.

(and for Discourse…oof)

Oh snap. I forgot about the Padres series. So easy to forget about the Padres, they’re so damn far away.

I have to figure out if I can watch the TBS games on HULU or not. Yanks are tonight, I better check.

I saw that analysis.

Seems far from certain Mets hitters would’ve picked up on something so subtle that no one else had apparently noticed it previously.

Once again, the Mets trail for most of a game but then blow it up with a big inning.

And it didn’t take Shohei Ohtani long to belt a three run homer.

Yanks have a 6-5 lead in the 9th. Need 3 outs.

K
2 outs to go but Witt is up.

K
1 out to go.

Weaver is 1 strike away.

YANKEES WIN, the Yankees win.

The Dodgers seem to only be able to win by out-hitting opponents rather than out-pitching. That’s not a recipe for a deep playoff run.

Guardians came back from 5 days of rest and blew up with 5 runs against Detroit before the first out in the bottom of the first.

We ended up with 7 runs total, and our pitching staff gave up 0, with 13 strikeouts.

Our batters look hot ‘n ready. Our pitching looks tight.

I will admit I wasn’t sure how we’d do with a week of rest. Coulda gone either way. Relieved to see it went this way.

Batters were back to their early summer form of patience at the plate (despite TERRIBLE umpiring - at least 3 ball-fours were called strike-threes) so hopefully they can keep racking up the pitch count and get Skubal out as quickly as possible on Monday.

The umping in the Royals/Yankees game was frustrating, but bad officiating is a part of the game (but it’d be nice if at least the replays were accurate). Witt going 0-5 and the relievers walking in 2 runs aren’t going to win any games going forward.

However, the Royals still managed to put up runs against Cole, and our #3 pitcher fared pretty well. Ragans and Lugo should do much better - they’re not out of this.

Well, I normally pull for Cleveland if I have to root for an American League team, and I would have rooted for them in 2016, but I’m a diehard Cub fan, so I couldn’t.

So I’ll throw my support behind them this year.

(And, for the record, two of the best World Series I’ve ever seen feature Cleveland. The aforementioned 2016 vs Chicago, and 1997 against the then-Florida Marlins)

On behalf of all die-hard Guards fans, we’re glad to have you! Even if you normally belong to the Cubs.

The Mets are having a 2011 Cardinals vibe.

Mets lost to Phillies in the 9th.

You jinxed them in real time!

Yeah, I said that right as they went up 4-3.

Padres put it to the Dodgers tonight, hitting six home runs in a 10-2 victory.

In the first inning, Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar robbed Mookie Betts of a home run. After he caught the ball, Profar hammed it up a bit in front of the fans in the left field bleachers. Later, in the seventh inning, a couple of fans threw baseballs at Profar which caused a delay. That was followed by fans in right field throwing trash on the field. Order was finally restored and play continued. The score was 3-1 at the time; San Diego hit 2 home runs in a 3-run 8th and 2 more dingers in a 3-run ninth.
