MLB: Post-Season 2019

Even gladder to be tied. Man, Soto got all of that one!

No question, I’d still rather have Cole pitching for me than Scherzer right now, but…

If nothing else, this series really promises some great pitching matchups.

How about now?

Let that be a lesson to everyone. Nobody loses to Gerrit Cole twenty times in a row.

Trivia: My GF was Tony LaRussas handler tonight at an event so I got her to ask him about what he and Dusty Baker were screaming at each other in that famous brawl.

I just thought it was fun that she was able to feed him a question from me. No big surprises on the answer. They used to be friends, then they wern’t and they were screaming to “Control your players…mind your own business etc…”

Holy cow. Did not think they were going to pull that off.

Pedroia cant be taller then 5’6"

Had 'em all the way.

538 now give the Nats a 59% chance of winning the WS.

Man, I had to go to bed, the alarm goes off at 5am! Held on through that nerve-wracking bottom of the 4th (Scherzer sure put a lot of men on base last night, but fought his way out of most of the jams he made!), then turned off the TV, went upstairs to bed, checked my phone and…say what?! We just scored another three runs, and I missed it?!?

And then they held on for the win. 1-0 Nats. Amazing.

The winner of Game 1 goes on to win a seven game series well more than sixty percent of the time so this actually is kind of pessimistic.

I’ve seen Dustin Pedroia up close. I would say he’s about 5’9".

Well, now I have to root for the Nats. After the Astro’s took a page from the old Trump crayon drawing (he couldn’t read, let alone write a book) and called a Sports Illustrated report fake news, I’m done with them.

Latest story here.

Go Nats!

The Astros seem determined to make everyone hate them. I half expect a player to be caught in an illegal dog fighting operation.

I was rooting for the Astros. I’m all in for the Nats now.

I’ve always been a Ryan Zimmerman fan and I was so glad to see him get that dinger in the World Series.

I thought of something the other day; this is the longest we have ever gone in the expansion era without adding any new teams. The last teams added were in 1998; since then the league structure has not changed at all, though Montreal moved to Washington.

21 years without expansion is the longest since 1901-1960. 15 years without any change at all is just barely the second longest; nothing changed from the 1977 expansion to the 1993 expansion.

I’d think adding a few more teams would be pretty cool, but you have to find a few billionaires in cities willing to build a stadium.

Off topic, but the Cubs are hiring David Ross as their new manager. I’ve heard he was great in the clubhouse, but being a Cubs manager following Maddon for your first gig in the big leagues won’t be easy.

I assume the stadium situations for Oakland and Tampa need to get figured out first. I assume the Rays will stay somewhere in Florida even though it’s just a terrible state for pro sports. Oakland? Who knows where they will end up? Las Vegas would be my bet.

I really don’t think baseball will put a team in a city that is the Gambling HQ of the Country. Portland or Virginia seem more likely.

Why not? The NHL did.

I think the “major” stumbling blocks to the As moving to Las Vegas are the presence of a thriving AAA team with a brand-new stadium and the idiocy of those people who want to build a MLB park on the Strip!

Where in Virginia? The area already has the Nats and the Orioles and there have been pissing matches over broadcasting rights between the Nats and the O’s

I doubt the gambling thing is a big deal. The NFL, the king of sports gambling, will be there next year. I know the Rose and Black Sox scandals hang over MLB, but that’s from a different era.

Vegas also makes sense as it is still in the Pacific time zone and that helps ratings. The AL west is a bit weird with the teams in both the Central and Pacific time zones, so the Texas teams get late starts (9 PM) for their division night road games.
