MLB: September 2011

Boston fans are cheering for the Yanks so far tonight. 6-0 Yanks over Rays as Boston is up 3-2 over the O’s and threatening for more.

Meanwhile Cleveland is up 3-1 over Tigers in the 6th.
If Tigers lose they’re packing their bags for NYC.

Also Card and Braves are both winning right now.

And on a Jones Homer, Yanks are up 7-0

Tigers win, Rangers-Angels are tied 1-1 in the 8th. Go Cali!

When the hell did Tampa score 6 runs?

Geez, this one’s coming down to the wire.

I believe the Tigers now get to stay at home.

Pretty sure the Rangers have to lose too.

Correct.

Tampa put up a big 6 spot on the Yanks. Normally I would hate this but I know it is a 100 times worse for Red Sox fans.

Argh. You’re right. I thought the game was over.

And now the Rangers are up 3-1. Ah well. I’m confident the Tigers can compete with anyone anywhere right now, so it doesn’t really matter where we play Friday.

Rays just tied the game with 2 outs in bottom of 9th.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much pant-shittingly awesome baseball going on at exactly the same time. The Braves and Phillies are in extras in a game Atlanta absolutely must win. The Rays just completed a seven-run comeback with a .108 hitter homering off a guy who’s been unhittable all year. The Red Sox are up one in a game we don’t yet know if they’ll be able to finish. This is crazy.

ESPN2 is reporting that the tarp is off, and they’ll be resuming shortly. I’ve got to assume that it’s a playoff weather delay scenario, and that barring a tsunami racing up the Chesapeake, the game will be completed tonight.

This is amazing. 2 extra innings games and the rain delay. Who’d have thunk it.

Milwaukee won their 96th game, setting a franchise record and making them the #2 seed in the NL no matter what Arizona does.

Ace just worked into and out of trouble in Baltimore.

It’s possibly worth noting that the AL game (if necessary) is the early game tomorrow, at 4:07 Eastern.

This really is a fantastic night. Though I have to think at this point Girardi is praying for a Rays RBI.

Wow did the Sox just blow a big opp.

You have to give Girardi some credit; he could have long ago just sent in the Scranton squad. He doesn’t need to win, and could justifiably have said “Look, Boston’s problems aren’t my problems; I have a playoff series to worry about, and I’ll just do whatever helps my team.” But he’s fighting the good fight.

Yep, this is as exciting as all getout. My MLB.TV is working overtime tonight.

Phillies now up 4-3 over Atlanta.
