I’m enjoying all the crazy tension of a ninth inning rally and then suddenly…fucking Gary Glitter. The Yankees are using pedo music? I really hate this organization.
Anyway, thank you White Sox for gifting us the game. This is going to an interesting finish, all around the league.
The Cubs snatch defeat from the jaws of victory tonight, leading the Mets 5-1 in the 2nd inning, only to lose 8-7. After getting swept by Cincinnati, I believe they’ve lost 5 straight games.
They have; there’s a bit of a swoon going on at the top of the NL, as both the Brewers and the Phillies are also now riding three-game losing streaks, while the Padres are coming up hot (winning four straight, including the past two over Milwaukee), and are threatening the Cubs for the top WC berth.
As the Phillies are tailspinning at the same time that the Brewers are, Milwaukee is backing their way into the NL’s #1 seed: their magic number to clinch that berth is now at 2. Despite playing .500 ball this month (10-10), the Brewers still have the best record in the majors; as they are now at 93 losses, it means that we won’t have a 100-win team in baseball this year.
I wasn’t. At this point, I knew we’d get to the post season. I didn’t need the Yankees to win this one. Houston losing was much more important in my view. [I was mellowing on my Yankee hate until they whole Kirk thing last week.]
Did anyone else see Cal on TV shouting “Now let’s win the whole fucking thing!”
I expect “The Whole Fucking Thing” T-shirts on the market by the end of the day
100 wins wasn’t likely (and now impossible), but Brewers only need one win to tie their franchise record and 2 to surpass it. Are they slacking due to clinching NL central? Probably more due to tough end of season schedule.

(doesn’t follow baseball that much, but have been impressed by Brewers this season)
Mets are back in sole possession of the last NL wild card, with the Reds and DBacks 1 game back. AZ has 2 with the Dodgers and 3 with the Padres, both of whom are battling for the division. Cincy has 2 with the Pirates and 3 with the Brewers, while the Mets have 2 with the Cubs and 3 with the Marlins.
Advantage seems to be with the Mets, but this is baseball.
Rotowear is MLB-licensed, they get stuff out really fast, and usually have something new when moments like that happen. Shirts are pretty high quality.
The Blue Jays can clinch a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the ALDS for the AL East champion with a win over the Red Sox OR a Guardians loss to the Tigers.
Not really, if they go win tonight and lose the last four and the Yankees pass them for the division title, they sure as hell aren’t going to have a first round bye and home field advantage in the ALDS.
Fuck never mind, it doesn’t say the Jays will get the buy, just the AL East champion.
