why is it that most people don’t?
i have heard it be compared to urine many times, yet i fail to see the connection.
bah.
so what’s wrong with patchouli? is it like broccoli, in the way that only some of the population can taste a certain chemical inside it, making it taste bad?
I like it too, but I think it evokes bad associations in some folks --Grimy unwashed hippies covering their B.O., kids begging pennies on Height street, shirtless guys selling beads on the beach in Santa Monica, Phish fans, etc. Things we could all do without.
I haven’t had complaints, but I don’t use a lot. One thing about patchouli - a little goes a long way. This seems to be true of this scent more than others. That might be another reason a lot of people don’t like it; it can be overpowering when too much is used.
The smell is not that bad, but I don’t like it at all. So, a mildy bad smell associated with all the horrid things listed above is exactly why I hate it.
I think it makes people smell moldy. It has some
of the same undertones as the variety of mold which
grows on whole wheat bread. My boyfriend can’t taste
mold in as small quantities as I can (I can tell the
day before he can that some has taken up residence)
but I haven’t yet met anyone that can beat my sister
in terms of identifying early mold growth.
And, at the risk of hijacking the thread, I do think
Cilantro tastes soapy.
