So this weekend I went to the 41st Annual Big Book Sale, run by the San Francisco libraries to raise money. It’s held in at Fort Mason and is literally a wharehouse full of books. Sunday was dollar day, which means you get each book for $1.
The roommate and I spent $99. We had a SHOPPING CART worth of books. We’ve now strained our bookcases to the last. Got lots of interesting things, including a totally random history book printed in 1878 that Delicious Library informed me was worth $450. Put that one in the glass case. I was also oddly delighted to find, in their Miscelaneous section, an original copy of The Straight Dope.
There were just so many neat books, stuff you’d never find.
Anyone else go? Anyone know of something like this in the New York metro area? My mom’s really jealous.
Anyone know where I can get bookcases that are 10ft tall?
