I was shopping yesterday and saw that the store was clearing out some flavored marshmallows from the holidays. I bought a bag of pumpkin flavored and a bag of gingerbread flavored. Today, I made a couple of peanut butter sandwiches and put some marshmallows inside each one. Then I nuked them for a few seconds. The marshmallows turned into pumpkin and gingerbread flavored cream. It felt like my mouth went to heaven.
What have you made recently that turned out even more awesome than you expected?
Desperate for dessert a few weeks ago, I melted some Ghirardelli baking chocolate (60%) in the microwave then stirred in coconut, sliced almonds, a little cayenne and some salt. Put it in little “doots” on wax paper in the freezer for a bit. Soooo tasty.
I bet they’d taste swell in cocoa. Really they are quite tasty, and after all, they were brought out for the holidays. The flavor is actually pretty subtle and not at all overwhelming.
You’ll end up like me. I made this great toasted sandwich - mashed banana, chili jam (lots of brands at any supermarket) and a few bits of lime zest. It is awesome but I tell people and they are disinterested. And yet people defer to me for cooking hints. I’ve even enhanced it with coconut shavings and peanut butter to be more Asian, Still no takers. Your marshmallows would fit in perfectly, ginger and pumpkin are awesome in Thai dishes. But no-one will care.
Marshmallows are generally flavored. It’s just the default flavor is vanilla and that’s used so commonly, people don’t notice it’s there. But if you can add vanilla flavoring to marshmallows, why not try others?
