Howdy Y’all! We were bears who brunch and then came back to da cave. There was talk of a ramble, but I started to feel a little ick. I napped with Ty and felt better. Just a little after effect of the stab. The rest of the day has been RDOS inactivity. Thus is the news from swampland.
CatMom has a little bear… statue? Sculpture? It’s a bear on her stomach with a baby bear on top. It’s made out of some sort of composite. I’m guessing paper. So it’s pretty light. You can just see the back end of it behind Goo.
Anyway, Findus was exploring the firewood, which shifted. The bear was pushed to the floor. I’ve put it back, with the head facing us instead of the backside.
And a good early evening to all. Did about an hour of treadmill walking and 20 minutes each on the pedal bike and the sitting down bike (they probably have better names than that, but it’s what I call them). Will fill the gas tank tomorrow, have 90% confidence I know what to do (but will take the car manual with me anyway). Have had some sammiches and will nosh on my Big Bowl O’Sallit later tonight. Otherwise it will be a quiet night internettin’, readin’ and puzzle solvin’.
Shoe, glad you got out without too much chillin’, and while skepticism is something I support, I think your cow-orker has learned you are to be trusted in things like this.
Never have used Tiger Balm, but will keep it in mind if/when I pull something I ought not too.
doggio, sometimes I think you should write a book, “Tales of the Brown Side” about all the wackiness you see. But Home Depot would probably take out a Mafia contract on you if you did, so…
FCM, got a little button on the lower left side, so plan to press that and see what happens. If nothing, I’ll read the manual…(typical guy response #47A).
Lily, is that you or just a everyday tik-tok? Either way, twas quite cute.
Dicey, hope everything fits. Have ordered clothes via Amazon and in general they have fitted well.
Cookie, Viva La Revolution!!
Nut, I have granite counters put in years ago, am very happy with them but they do require maintenace and are not cheap. If there are places near you that have the stones for countertops you can visit them and see what the prices are like (know your approximate square footage).
rocky, yeah, acme was always the slightly higher-priced place when I was in their neighborhood. Seems that most places accomodate low-cost (pretty much dominated by Wal-Mart around here), mid-value (Kroger for me) and slightly high cost (Publix in this neck of the woods. The real high-cost places (Whole Foods) are few and far between.
Flyboy, IIRC I used my escrow money to help finish paying off my mortgage, hopefully it can be done simply and easily.
Hope you’re feeling better by the weekend, Swampy.
And that’s all for now. Internettin’ is in full swing. Take care.
Up from naptime. I dreamed I was in a sort of Cube mashup, with a team of humans, Xenomorphs, predators, and Cenobites. The one Cenobite chick with the crosscut shredder mouth got beheaded. Which was a shame, becuase she was kinda cute in a “never, ever, ever having oral sex” kind of way. Watching hockey. Having a martini, seafood pasta with olives and tomatoes and a lemon garlic sauce.
2 of them were the best co-stars for Marc Singer in The Beastmaster.
I bet that eats at you.
Have FCD do it, because bros before hose.
Not buying an anvil?
If their assassins are as good as their shipping department, I’m more likely to die of extreme old age.
The Return of the Chocolate Muffin.
Went to my dr.
I told I was worried about my blood glucose test.
She said it was high because I had just eaten right before the blood draw.
I was tested in Sept. Twas 83.
She tested today my A1c.
5.1
So there.
Yes, I’ve gotten yeast infections for years. Skin tags too.
I am not pre diabetic.
Some dimbulbs across the street still have Halloween decorations out. Every year they hang some sort of witch character in their tree. The character has a motion sensor, and every time it senses movement (like wind), the witch talks in a shrieky cracked voice and cackles. It drives me crazy and I can’t leave my window open to enjoy the cool fall weather.
Yesterday it rained heavily all day and all their decorations, including the witch, are sodden and dismal. But the witch is still cackling.
Oh, and our attached wall neighbors took down all their numerous Halloween inflatables, but they just dumped them all on their driveway. They also got soaked in yesterday’s storm, and are now a soaking pile of multicolored rags in the mud.
A day of napping and reading has done wonders. I’m nowhere near , but am feeling halfway human. Sis is going to bring me some more store brand gatorade zero tomorrow and take some of the produce that needs to be used up. Once I finally was a bit peckish for supper, I nuked one of the chicken pot pies that she brought to me and added some applesauce for dessert.
Mrs. L.A. bought a dog/wolf skeleton thing that howls when motion (?) or sound (?) is detected. Rain set it off, and we live in Rainland. It would wake me up in the middle of the night. She left it turned on even if we were on vacation. Anyway, this year its eyes lit up and the jaw jiggled; but no howling. That was fine with me.
Late night final all. Late night meal was my Big Bowl O’Salad with some pretzels (hey, my diet rules, I make them up) so should be ready to fast until the dawn’s early light. Outside of that have done nothing useful in the past 3 hours and will continue that trend until sleepytime arrives.
Lily, thanks for the info.
Coppertone, glad you are not pre-diabetic. Or anything else serious.
Suddenly I’m hungry again…
lucky, the 2-3 nearby houses with extensive Halloween stuff have cleared their yards, hopefully the slowpokes will get them down this week.
red, glad to hear you are feeling better, keep on improving with a good night’s sleep.
flyboy, Aaaaaaoooooo,werewolves of LA…
And time to finish up being slothful and get down to some serious sleepage. Catch y’all tomorrow.
Not sure about the anything serious. Since weds visit to er, Im getting skipped beats often.
Dr at er thought it was nothing to worry about but its annoying.
So I had good reason to recall this conversation today. A gray day, slightly foggy. I was driving to town to meet friends for lunch, and ended up behind a slow-poker doing 47-ish in a 55 mph zone on a highway where people prefer 60. I know the road well and waited until there was a good passing spot. Checked (I thought) carefully, saw no one in the opposing lane, then made my move. And suddenly, an older pickup truck appeared. No lights. Color of the asphalt. I’ve never come so close to having a head-on collision. Obviously that didn’t happen, so lucky us. But it’s the first time I’ve ever checked the interior of my car for skid marks.
This is a delightful story, Piper! So dachshund. Thanks for sharing it! My Shovel Paws never uses them for anything. Even standing on top of a fresh mole hill, he demonstrates only mild interest. “But my nails!” It’s kind of sad.
I shall hope along with you, then.
What would a dachshund be without a big bark? Ollie’s on the job with that one. He regularly has barking fits at the poor delivery people who come here. I’m glad you enjoy the stories.
red, I hope you get over this yuck stuff soon!
Heh, heh, heh. Good deal, cookie! And anyway, Sadie is a splendid ESA. Why should she not get due consideration?
Oopsie, I hope the hot water situation is resolved soon. Lukewarm bathing is a drag. And I hope your arm is better soon, too.
Good grief, shoe! Not a fun experience! I’m glad the duration of your imprisonment was short. Will they fix the faulty door at some point? Or do they like for you to live dangerously?
Lily, the stoat wrestling vid was wonderful! Thanks for posting it!
Hope your back eases up on you soon, dicey!
Glad you’re not prediabetic, Coppertone.
Not much else happened today. Had a nice lunch with friends, came home, gave the hardwood floors a sweep, scrubbed the main bathroom, started some artisan no-knead bread and dug out my recipe for chocolate eclairs, which I’ll make tomorrow. I’ll take both to my friend’s house on Sunday, where I’ve been invited for another Ollie walk and late lunch. It seems to have become a pleasant routine with us. Fine with me – we always have a great time: A nice hike, a fine romp for Ollie, good food and lots of laughs.
It’s rather fragrant, and wash your hands before you rub your eyes, but can confirm, is quite helpful.
Damn skippy.
Tonight’s shout-out is to the guy who parked a zillion miles away from the window. While his passenger was digging for funds, the driver took a half-empty foam cup - the kind from convenience stores for slushies - and poured from a brown paper bag containing what looked like a wine bottle (?!) and proceeded to go to TOWN on that straw.
Got paid up, but there was no way I could hand a large pizza out that far without dropping it. Driver looks at me, gestures to his passenger, and rather grumpily goes, “That’s his shit, not mine.” Passenger hops out and comes around in a hurry, muttering, “You heard how he done me?”
Jeez…
Oh, and runner up goes to … me!! … because while confirming a pepperoni/sausage/mushroom order, it somehow came out as “marshmallow” and we both just silently stared at each other for a moment.
Oh, and for extra funzies, we were short TWO closers tonight - both of the scheduled teenagers crapped out early, one had clearly barfed - plus Grandma Co-worker has been hospitalized with kidney problems (she’s also got the diabeetus AND had her gallbladder & appendix removed - when I heard the news I was like, “What’s left of her to scoop out?”) so to say we’ve been scrambling the roster like eggs in a tornado is an understatement.
It can be faster to search on Google or some other search engine than to find something in an owner’s manual. Especially if the owner’s manual is only physical. Did they give you a link to download the PDF file as well? We have ours on a shared location, so either of us can access it from our phones.
Sounds like something to read in the outhouse.
If you get something that has a seam, make sure it’s in a good location. My friend got marble and there’s a seam right in the middle of where she rolls out dough. It’s a pain to clean. We have two different counters, one is stainless steel and the other is engineered stone, which is actually a mix of recycled material.
If you have hard water, stainless steel will show every spot. On the other hand, the counter and sink are all one piece, so there’s no lip around the sink or grout.
You want something that doesn’t stain and doesn’t mind if a hot pot is placed on it.
Speaking of cooking, it seems my gallbladder is acting up again, so I need to be careful what I eat. I had an ultrasound in 2016, and I had sludge, and it seems to be a bit sensitive since my surgery. Doctor said I should wait 6 months before deciding if I want estrogen for my brain issues (searching for words), because it takes time to adjust and 2 months isn’t enough time for full recovery.
Today’s weather is unbelievably sunny, after a week of fog. Off to the grocery store, watch store (hubby’s watch needs repair), another grocery store, and then garden work. And maybe laundry, just for funsies.
Heh. Or maybe not. Did I ever mention my head zaps before? Well, they’ve come back and they’re freaking annoying. I actually took the last hour of work off yesterday because it’s hard to think when it feels like there’s an electric fence in your head zapping your brain.
I hope that all who are under the weather are feeling better today!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 41 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 77 and sunny. I will go over to the church house this mornin’ to take care of candle duty and then the three of us that went to convention are meetin’ with the vestry to report on convention. Fun times ahead. I can’t imagine that takin’ more than half an hour. The rest of the day will be devoted to high RDOS inactivities as is our wont. I will check in on the various kolledge tackleball games from time to time. My DAWGS play the Texas cattle at seven-thirty p.m. Should be a good game, but I won’t be able to stay awake the whole game probably. Hard for me to stay up past ten p.m. Any need to feed will be via forage. We have plenty of sammich makin’s, chips, etc.
Sticky_Buns hope the head zaps are gone today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst church folk. Notice I don’t refer to them as the great unwashed.
