MMP - As serious as a heart attack.

Obviously FCM, you have a strong desire to get nekkid and frisky with an older man, and since there are only two ‘older’ men in the MMP, and one of them’s gay…all I can say is, I’m terribly flattered and mightily tempted, but I’m afraid it just wouldn’t work out. I would suggest that you instead drown your sorrows in hot chocolate, dear.

 ← smilie to indicate that the preceeding was a joke. FCD has nothing to fear from me. I lurves FCM, but not that way.

My dreams are never that coherent, I’m afraid. I didn’t even have any last night due to the fact that I was awake almost all night being attacked by gout. Unfortunately, the paper that came with my Plavix says something about my preferred method of countering gout, massive doses of naproxen sodium, increasing my chance of bleeding and the anti-platelate(sp?) action.

In other pain news: we got the bill from the big hospital in Portland yesterday - $31k and change. We’re still waiting on the bill from the local hospital and the ambulance. Oy Vey!

I think I need to go lie down in a darkened room.

Oh yikes!!! That’s a lot soap to sell!

It’s amazing how much medical care costs. Makes you wonder if the machinery they used on you is made of solid platinum or something, doesn’t it?

I really hope everything turns out okay. Wish I was a gazillionaire so I could help you out.

(Lissla is very very glad for Canadian health care, even though it sometimes sucks) Yikes and sweet fancy moses, Bumba! $31,00?!!

You’re right, Taters. I think I’m going out drinking with some co-workers after work. It’s the last weekend before Christmas. It’ll be nuts, so afterwards we can get drunk and complain and eat pub food. Sounds good.

Off to Christmas shop a bit before work.

By the soiled trousers of Argus, thirty one thousand dollars!?!? I am SO never having a heart attack.

But Bumba, you sell soap? How very Fight Club.

Glad you liked the rant, Ellen.

[Freud]Lissa, your dream ist very suggestive of penis envy, as ze vedding dress is vat you vear vhen marryingk a man …[/Freud]

Oh yeah, I just got back from lunch and conversation with taxi and Mika. Fascinating people, both of them. And taxi’s cat Lilah (sp?) is absolutely adorable. AND SHE GAVE ME FUDGE! (The taxi, not the cat). Two huge blocks of it! I’ll have to return the favor in some way next semester.

Not to mention that Spatial Rift was the lucky one, with two females - three if you count the cat . And he’s cute, too. I mean Spatial Rift is cute, not the cat - the cat is the girl. I’m just not saying this clearly am I?

Back from brunch and the semi-final round of Christmas shopping/pre-trip acquisitions. I’m really close to having everything I need. Biggest thing I need to do is upload a bunch of pix to be printed for Mom. My appetizers were a hit; I had to confess that they were boughten from the freezer section at the local supermarket (Freschetta brand - can’t find a link, though - they’re phyllo dough filled with spinach and cheese). We had a nice time, LOTS of food, presents, etc.

Then I went off to buy the end of what I needed for my team. Got some fine food, nuts, etc. to fill out a gift bag for each person. Also remembered to pick up something for my soon-to-be ex-sister-in-law. Need to make a list and make sure I haven’t missed anything. Made 4 stops and got home in less than 2 hours - I was pretty proud of myself.

Haven’t commented on much of anything from the past couple days. Wow! That’s quite a bill, Bumba! Make sure you go through it with a fine-toothed comb - sometimes routine stuff slips in there even though it wasn’t used on you. Some of it won’t be obvious, but it’s surprising what things jump right out at you.

Yay, Bobbio on the new job!!! Even if it’s not closer to Ellen, me or FCM.

gotti - glad DH got treatment in time for the anaphylaxis. Sounds awful, though.

Lissla, you’re so brave to actually sew the wedding dress - and under those circumstances. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t survive. (First problem being I don’t rally sew.) We’re going to get to see a picture eventually, right?

Glad you’re doing better jayjay.

Well - I need to start doing laundry and a bit more clean-up so that I can start figuring out how I pack. Just acquired a duffel bag that I’m hoping will fit in my suitcase on the way back…

Nothing interesting to report here. Did some shopping yesterday. Story at 11.

We have a cat! Well, we will have a cat after we get back from FL - 2 weeks from today we’ll pick her up.

She’s an Abyssinian, a former champion who mothered another champion. She’s about 6 years old, retired from the show circuit, and recently spayed. The owner of the cattery wanted her to go to a good single-cat home. So we drove up to Baltimore today to meet the cat and the cattery lady, and we spent about an hour and a half there playing with kitties and finding out all kinds of stuff about Abys and shows and stuff. Cattery lady decided she would like us to take her baby and FCD decided this cat will be perfect - she likes to be skritched, and apparently, she’s a fan of Law & Order. It’s a match made in heaven.

Brandy (probably to be renamed) has a bit of an eye thing going on, plus she just had her surgery 10 days ago. So Steph, the cattery lady, is going to medicate her and monitor the rest of her healing till New Years Eve, when we go claim her as our own. FCD is very excited - he’s planning to build one of those carpeted tower things for our new addition. So we’ll start the new year with a new kitty.

On the bummer side, I went by my pottery class to pick up my last 4 pieces, but they were in the kiln, so I won’t be able to get them till probably after Christmas. Which is a bummer, since I wanted to give one of them to my daughter. But she’ll be up here in January so I can give it to her then.

All in all, it was a good day.

As for my dream, my youngest sister smokes, but I don’t think she plays into this freaky story.

Homemaker role? Yeah, right… :stuck_out_tongue:

Bumba, darlin’, had we met in another time, I’m sure we’d have, um, well, we’d have chatted at the very least! Because I respect you way too much to take advantage of you in that way.

Oh, I think you got the point across. And thank you.

Well, so much for my career as a dream analyst.

We have just now returned from the aforementioned Christmas shopping. I’m pretty dang proud of us because we knocked out everyone’s presents, except for three. I can pick those up tomorrow. They should be fairly easy.

We spent nearly five hours doing the shopping, stopping first at Best Buy and then onward to the hell that was the South Hill Mall. But…it’s mostly done! Yippee!

Congrats on the new kitty FCM. She sounds lovely and I can’t wait to see some pictures.

The hubby is now talking about dinner. I don’t really want to make dinner because I just want to sit down and relax for a bit.

I ran into my mother at the mall today too. I received some not very good news from her. I’m hoping the tests she needs to undergo will show that it’s not what she and the doctors are fearing. They’ve found spots on breasts. Spots that have grown. She’s understandably worried and upset. I can’t get all worked up yet. Although I’m braced for bad news, I think it’s better to take a calm “wait and see” attitude before jumping to conclusions. It also helps me to be calm around my mother. She’s been dealing with various tests for the past couple of weeks.

Other than that, it was a good day. Tiring, but most of the shopping was accomplished. My house is another story, but something I can deal with tomorrow.

I’ve accomplished very little since I got home. I fell asleep on the couch, wrapped 4 presents, unwrapped some presents I received this morning, and determined that the duffel bag I acquired at Target should be fine for my trip. (I need something I can fold up in my suitcase on the way back.) Probably did a few more things that I’ve forgotten.

Prayers and good thoughts for your Mom Taters.

And congrats on the cat, FCM.

GT

Yikes. It sounds like we all need to place a soap order with Bumba toot sweet! :frowning:

Congrats on the cat FCM. Abbys are great cats, I grew up with several. I wish we could get one, but I am now mildly allergic to cats, and Hubby[sup]tm[/sup] has always been* extremely* allergic, to the point of full blown asthma attack.

gotpasswords I’m glad he’s gonna be ok, anaphalaxis is real scary.
Well, the cookies are 2/5 done, we now have 9 dozen chow mein cookies and 10 dozen anise, 7 dozen of which have been iced so far. Gonna finish icing them today, along with making 10 dozen sugar, and 5 dozen each of m&m chip cookies and thumbprint jelly cookies today. We also got the tree up and lit, the ornaments will go on tonight.

Wow, it’s not even 7 and what have I accomplished so far?

  • One load in the washer
  • Dishwasher emptied
  • Dishwasher reloaded (yeah, we had a sinkful)
  • Counters wiped down
  • Trash papers and magazines on counters in trash or recycling as appropriate
  • Dog let out, let in, and fed
  • Ribs for dinner thawing in sink
All in less than an hour! I need to run the vacuum, but FCD is sleeping. I also need to dust, but lacking daylight, I decided to pass. And I’ve got to load the trash and recycling in the van for a run to the convenience center, but they don’t open till (I think)11, so that can wait.

No wonder I’m tired by suppertime!!

Dang, FCM. You’re way too productive for me this morning.

I’m a bit hungover. Last night was our department’s Christmas party. It was fabulous! The food was incredible. I think the same little spinach and cheese things that gardentraveler had were served. And two wonderful salads, and artichoke dip, and on and on. Tom and I had a great time.

There was a gift exchange. I ended up with a long candle tray thing that’s perfect for my mantle. Tom ended up with a Sprts Illustrated swimsuit edition desk calendar. There was lots of stealing presents back and forth. One guy ended up with a pair of Hello Kitty walkie-talkies. They were pink. Hee! Our two contributions went over well, and were stolen. One was this toy fireman who crawled on his belly. Very cool! And an inexpensive Stanley toolbox with a $20 Home Depot gift card.

I got a wee bit intoxicated.

Gahh! FCM, sit down and take a break!

Trying to motivate myself to

Sweep
Do all the dishes
Clean the fridge
Tidy all the fabric scraps away
Make a grocery list
Make 40 sandwiches to freeze

Then:
Grocery and Christmas shop on the way to work.

I have five hours, but I haven 't caffeinated myself yet, and I’m exhausted from last night. It’s just dawned on me that I’m going to be away from next Tuesday to Sunday. That means I should get a week’s worth of easy-to-prepare stuff for Mr. Lissar, and do two week’s worth of laundry. And let’s see, I’m working 4 till 11 tonight, 12 to 8 tomorrow, 5 to 10 on Tuesday, 9 to 5:30 on Thursday, and 5 till 11 on Friday.

And I have to finish the dress in my vast amounts of spare time.

I think I’ll try and finish my Christmas shopping today before work. Tomorrow I’ll do some sewing when I get home at 8:30. Tuesday I’ll do all the grocery shopping before work. Wednesday will be laundry and making a pot of lentils or something to hold us until Christmas, plus all day furious sewing. Thursday is more sewing, and Friday is more laundry.

No, scratch that, we’ll take laundry to my parents’ place on Christmas. Very holiday. That means I can spend Friday (hopefully) finishing the dress, veil, and little bag. Oh, crap, I’ve got to go downtown for more buttons and pick up the chiffon. Tuesday. i’ll grocery shop early…

Lissla(thinking aloud and about to expire from stress. I did know it was going to be like this.

‘Mornin’ all. I have just awoken and made some coffee. Actually, I’m still waiting for the coffee to finish brewing. I would have love to have slept some more, but my poor back just couldn’t take staying in bed anymore. Between my dog and my husband, I received hardly any sleep. Both like to snuggle right up next to me (one on either side), and leaves me in very uncomfortable positions for sleeping.

I need to clean, do laundry and grocery shop today. I think that will be the extent of what I do. Although I have three more people to purchase presents for, it can’ wait until tomorrow after work or something. I do not want to go anywhere near the mall today.

My daughter went and saw Narnia with a school chum last night. She didn’t talk to me much after she got home. She did tell me she enjoyed the movie and that she thought it was good.

Lissla , calm down dear. It’s all going to turn out fine.

I’m going to toddle off for some coffee now…

Gaak! You people make me want to go back to bed. It’s Suday, and you’re doing more than I did all week!
I guess I can’t use being sick as an excuse any more. But I don’t want to get all motivated, it makes me sweat.
I did get the kitchen and bathrooms habitable yesterday. I even got through 2 loads of laundry. Then I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. I think that was 7:30pm Amazingly, I slept until 6:00am. When I woke up, hubby wasn’t beside me. I went down to check on him and he’d fallen asleep in his desk chair. Poor thing, he’d been there since 11:30pm. I just put him to bed, after some hot chocolate abd cinnamon toast.
Won’t someone come clean my house, please? You could decorate a little too.
Maybe I could convince the extended family to put off Christmas until, say, March…Yeah, March sounds good. I’ll feel better by then.
I’m going back to bed now.

Just finished some punkin’ pie (PIE!) - eating, not baking. My last load of laundry is in the washer. When my sweetie got up, we went to breakfast, then met with a guy from the Coast Guard Auxiliary because FCD thought he’d like to get involved. Well, it looks like both of us will be involved. We’ll go to the January meeting and take the first test and see how we like it. But it sounds like something we’d enjoy doing, and it’ll give us a chance to benefit boaters in our area. Plus we get to wear uniforms…*

We came home and took care of the trash and recycling, and now I’m psyching myself up to vacuum, dust, and tidy. The spareribs are in the oven cooking low and slow - they’re be yummerrific by dinner time. FCD is going to go futz around in the basement. And I’ve got to do some ironing. But really, it’s not going to be too busy an afternoon. In theory…

*Like that’s a big deal for 2 people who were in the Navy for some years.

picnurse, I will come clean your house if you will finish the wedding dress for me. Deal?

Done the dishes, put Mr. Lissar to bed (he just got back from a midnight to noon shift) and made the grocery list. Cleaned the fridge out, too. I’ve been productive and now it’s time to think about lunch before Christmas shopping. I’ve realised there will not be any time for vacuuming and tidying and stuff this week. It won’t happen, so I won’t worry about it.

We need a vodka dispenser at work. Under the counter, next to the button that opens the floor above the pirahna pit.
