Southwest lost my luggage in Providence RI and it was found down the street from the airport terminal in a Burger King dumpster.
I kid you not. I was missing a few shirts and unfortunately, some books that I had borrowed to plan a seminar with. Two were out of print–great…
I am sitting here slightly peeved because I cannot get the sound on my computer to work. Yes, it is plugged in and yes, I have found the icon etc–it won’t let me raise the volume.
this is something I will hand to my husband tonoc to fix.
Work in AM-I sure hope it’s a quiet day–I could use one.
Colorado is gorgeous (well, half of it is-the mountain parts). I went to school there for a bit. Very nice.
I am slightly confused about Anil, but figure I’ll get caught up sooner or later…
That happened to me, right after I installed an authorized MicroSquash update. It magically healed itself a few weeks later - I have no idea why. I just didn’t recognize that the driver was there. Very frustrating.
I am very calm, yes. Honestly, I was going somewhere where I knew I’d have clothes, and that they’d buy me anything I needed…plus it was Thanksgiving. All of that aside, I might still have pitched a fit - except that the poor claims lady stuttered. it was hard enough for her to get an idea out as it was, I wasn’t about to yell at her on the holiday!
And no, mom was not there. I asked her not to be, and she listened. So it was enjoyable.
Glad to do it . It wasn’t anywhere near the quality of a Rue story, but it unlocked the clubhouse door.
It’s not going to snow… It doesn’t snow here any more. No, nope, nope, nope. The problem with the drivers here and snow, is, half of them have never seen snow. Of course that complicated by the other half that still don’t see it.
We had a light dusting in the wee hours of Thanksgiving morning - there were a few little patches of white on the side of the road as we drove to Mom’s. I dread real snow - people have undoubtedly gotten stupid since last year’s snow.
I’ve been absolutely swamped here at work… I think I may have to stay late.
Leftover turkey recipe - Mom called it “Turkey Spaghetti.”
Boil the carcass. Drain it but reserve the broth. Pick off all the meat, and cut into bite size pieces. I used about 2 cups of chopped turkey for the following:
1 medium onion, chopped
4 ribs of celery, chopped
1/4 green bell pepper, chopped
1/4 red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
1 can stewed tomatoes, broken up
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
A couple of handfuls of grated cheddar cheese (I used colby Jack tho)
About 3 inch diameter of spaghetti, cooked in the (salted) turkey broth
Saute the veggies in a big skillet. Add in the tomatoes and turkey. Drain the sketti but reserve a bit more broth in case the mixture comes out too dry. Mix the veggies with the soup, cheese and sketti. Dump into a 13x9 baking dish and heat at 350° about 30-40 minutes, until bubbly and slightly browned on top. Yum!
DR that sounds suspiciously like turkey tettrazini. :dubious:
The best part about not hosting Turkey Day is no days and days of leftover turkey. I like the stuff but after day two it’s time for it to just go away.
I very thoughtfully went to the store after work and bought all the ingredients somebody will need to make cheesecake. Wasn’t that sweet of me? Reckon he’ll be thrilled when I tell him? He’s working late tonight so it’ll be tomorrow before I surprise him with the great news. Ok, I’ll tell him when I talk to him a little later tonight. Tomorrow is spend the night at my place night, so I’m making chicken and dumplings. That means he owes me cheecake, right? Can y’all tell I want cheesecake?
I’m using you as backup scout. I can say, see one of the MMP cool kids says I deserve cheesecake so you gotta make it now. He can’t possibly argue with that, now can he?
Pffffft. Fine, ignore my last post. I don’t care. turns up nose, sniffles just a little
I kid, I kid. Life looks much better now We also had some weird weather, though–loads of rain and sleet, and while I was at work there was a big bang outside and the power flickered off for a few seconds or so. Very creepy, my knees and hands were shaking for long minutes afterwards.
swampy, when I go downtown I will find the little cafe along Bloor St. West that all the university students, including me, go to–and I forget its name, crud!–and send you a piece of their smooth, rich, thick, creamy Oreo cheesecake with whipped cream and chocolate sauce drizzled over top. Pure incandescent trandescendent heaven in a mouthful.
I missed this earlier…you can ask someone if they’ll sign you up and send them a check. There is no other way to sign up, the boards don’t take checks.
And here’s a good time to mention:
DUTCH DOPERS ARE THE BESTEST!
(in honor of gum, who paid my subscription and wouldn’t accept money)
The scale tells me I gained 3 pounds this weekend. I don’t believe the scale. Lying, lying scale!
Yup - just because I ate out every meal for 4 1/2 days. And tried every one of 5 desserts on Thanksgiving. Then ate at Cheesecake Factory the next night. How could that be 3 pounds?
No, and I’m really missing out! Toronto is really far from me; when I used to live in Michigan it was only an hour. I could make it to Montreal in five, but I don’t think that’s going to cut it.
Which cafe is that, Kyth? And I know just the thing for the grumps- buy the Toronto Life Eating and Drinking issue and visit all the bakeries listed. Especially Arz, the French and Middle Eastern one, which has the best damn baklava anywhere.
I have been promised cheesecake. YAY! Oh and thanks Kyth for the offer to ship cheesecake. Wouldn’t that get a little messy though? Especially the whipped cream.
My sinuses are all stopped up. My whole head is all stuffy. I may not make it at work all day. I really would like some Benadryl[sup]TM[/sup] but I can’t take it and work. I go all sleepy when I take it. That doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
It’s also weirdly warm here. Weirdly as in icky storm on the way weirdly. The last time I remember weather like this, a tornado touched down less than two miles away.
