MMP - FCM and the Fall Follies

The Geek Boys would really like it if she had the hair danishes, and the brass bikini Jabba the Hut made Leia wear…

there are very few women who can pull that off, and yes we’ve all seen that episode of Friends

Heh, don’t get me started - we can discuss leathers vs. rubbers, hard suction, front mount pumps, humping hose, laying line, and if being ‘first-in’ is good or bad.
:stuck_out_tongue:

I never got that. She’s not sexually attractive to him, is she? She must be as disgusting to him as he is to us! So why dress her up like that? Just a run-of-the-mill slave thing? Reminds me of Bollywood movies, where 9 times out of 10 the villain would capture the pretty girl and instead of having his way with her, he’d command her to DANCE!

Welcome to the MMP LouisB! I’m sure Marcie was all pleased and happy cause that was a pretty jake thing ya did there.

I must now go bleach my brain because of the image of hair danish and brass bikinis that has been burned into it.

Well, I must also go bleach my brain. For I thought of brass bikinis, then I thought of you, then I thought of you in brass bikinis - then I thought of Austin Powers in that one movie where he puts on a white bikini. Ewww.

Why mika, you say such things! I’d never wear a brass bikini. I much prefer a bronze one-piece. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sounds like there’s two Faires for people to go to.

Mine’s way out here in California. We’re one of the original Ren Faires, although it’s getting a bit odd to sort it all out. The Faire in Southern California calls itself the original, which is not true. It’s *one of * the originals, after the family was split in a messy divorce. We both evolved from the same school project 40 years ago.

It was a weekend of fun and revelry, and a fair bit of high drama that we managed to hide from the customers.

We lost power to the site mid-afternoon on Saturday. I have a UPS in my membership building, so the computer kept running through the brownouts and surges as the electric utility attempted to maintain power, but eventually the fuses inside the main transformer went poof, and we went dark. The problem was traced to one individual who thought they were above the rules and plugged in their RV during the day and turned on the airconditioner. We’ve got a razor-thin power budget there, and that one unauthorized RV was enough to put us over the edge. This triggered a mad scramble to get critical things plugged into generators. Stuff like fridges and freezers in the food court, for example. Other than the roar of engines being added to the overall din, nobody was any wiser.

We’re hoping PG&E will have service repaired on Tuesday. I’m hoping that the person with the airconditioner gets tossed out on their ass and presented with the repair bill, plus the generator rental, gas for them, and any food that was spoiled or sold at panic “it’s gonna go bad otherwise” prices as a result.

One of our guild members was poisoned on Saturday afternoon as well. The guy drinks a little bit now and then, but doesn’t do drugs. Somewhere along the way, he ate a cookie that was spiked with pot, and apparently, something that shows up on a quick ER toxicology test as cocaine* was in there as well. His body couldn’t deal with the yin and yang of mellow vs mania, and he now has a $3000+ bill. Expensive cookie. Like a great many Faire performers, he also has no insurance. We’ll be engaging RESCU - hopefully they’ll be able to cover some amount.

So, other than power failures and poisonings, it all went well.

  • Those of us with medical training quickly realized it can’t be coke as it’s not effective when eaten. But, that’s just from a quick screening to assess what general method of treatment is needed.

I’m glad it turned out well for you, Twinkie!

Here’s a recipe for a pumpkin cheesecake with a swirly design, Biblio. I’ve never tried the recipe, but it looks great, and I’m thinking about making one.

It sounds like y’all had a blast at the Faire. I love the pics! Nice tat, there, Drae! And I love all the braids!

Ok - back to work. :frowning:

**gotti ** - the one in Tuxedo NY is at least that old as well; Several of my theatre classmates took summer jobs with the faire in the mid 70s and it had already been running for a while

Wouldst this faire have a midway? Wouldst it perchance havest games of chance such as shooteth the apple off thy head with yon bow and arrow? Rescue yon damsel in distress and winneth a stuffed dragon? Besiege yon castle?

They have games such as “Throw Yon Axe.” Thou shalt not screw around.

I thought you were into dudes in distress. :stuck_out_tongue:

They have wonderful things!

it’s all about the story of Robin Hood, so throughout the day there’s these utterly sweet little skits. Like when Maid Marion tried to cross the bridge, and they demand a kiss in payment, but she refuses, asking if they all ask each other for kisses, too! And so they begin to duel, but in the end, Robin

Steals a kiss anyway

And there’s lovely duels and romantic moments, a wonderfully entertaining chess game.
Sigh. I think I’ll be 90 before this romantic heart of mine finally learns some sense.

Well, it’s more along the lines of putting dudes in distress, but I won’t go all TMI this early in the MMP. Especially since this is a FCM MMP, thus calling for the utmost in propriety and decorum because she’s nice, dammit!

Who knew firefighting could be so…dirty!

::steps carefully into thread avoiding puddles…does not examine contents of puddles closely:: Phew!! What has been going on in here since I left? This place is positively x-rated what with all the hoses and rubber suits and foam and…well, I can’t go on. li-li, we’re gonna need at least a gallon of bleach to clean this place up. :dubious:

Hey all. Faire sounds wonderful and looks like you all had good weather for it. Love the braids–and the juvenile mugger.

Off to write papers, because that is what I do best.

Aim the hose to the base of the fire. Just thought I’d share…

And you’re all forgetting that technical term pump head.

Firemen are nice and all. Really. But if we’re talking rubber suits, I do believe Batman will suffice and more than.
