wuss.
Well, if I want to be able to read my results…
I’m driving poor Dad crazy, though. “This could be a 2 or a 4, no, wait, it’s the 4, because there’s already a 2 here.”
It’s good to know that I am not the only 22 year old who has such a terrible memory. Already I essentially remember nothing of my childhood and day to day events like breakfast have a habit of passing in and out of my brain like… something that goes through… something else really fast…
Speaking of nicknames and brothers (ok that is a bit of a stretch but bear with me here) I talked to my brother again and have determined that he is impervious to nicknames. In our entire group of friends he is the only one that has never had a nickname, or at least one that lasts for more than an hour, for some reason they just never stick. I always had a feeling that it was just that we had know him as ‘Matt’ long enough that we couldn’t stick to a nickname reliably, but I guess I was wrong. He has now been in the army for almost nine months and no one has been able to give him a nickname. Sure my knowledge of basic training and army life comes almost entirely from movies but I was under the impression that one could not be in the military without some sort of nickname. Maybe I should convince him to start posting to the MMP, I imagine a nickname would be inevitable.
On a completely unrelated note from my random trolling through wikipedia, did you know that there was a Japanese politician in the 60’s that was assassinated with a sword? That strikes me as incredibly bizarre.
For some reason the last two weeks have completely exhausted me, I came home from work today and laid down to rest and fell asleep before I could take my glasses off. When I awoke I had completely forgotten everything I had planned on posting (I’m pretty sure it was really interesting too), so this is all I’ve got (not exactly short, but far less interesting).
The version of Word I’ve got here (Mac 2004) has sixteen or so newsletter templates, and you get wizards that pop up to enter your titles, set up the number of pages, etc., as well as pick a variety of pre-fab color schemes.
I’d like to think a Windows version of Word has a similar array of templates.
Wow! So that’s what Bite me means!
Just a drive by to say 'mornin!
Off to a meeting at 7:30, then back here but only for part of the day. I’m getting my mom at 11, then off to our old town to visit a few places/people with her, do some lunch then hustle her to the airport and back on her merry way to Tucson.
Then, tonight after I drop her I believe I’ll make it to the gym, where I haven’t been in almost a month because I had my head up my bum because of work.
So, slowly my life returns to normal. Ok, normal for me.
Morning! It’s cool and cloudy this morning, with rain on the way. Hopefully I can take GeezerBeagle to the park before it hits.
It’s been raining here since yesterday afternoon too!
SCL, I downloaded a template from the Microsoft site and it’s horrible. Like most of the “features” of Word, it tries to do too much for you. You’re supposed to just dump the copy in and voila! you have a lovely newsletter. I’d dump the copy in, all right, and then spend three hours nudging it around so it looked halfway decent. Good luck. There’s got to be good programs out there, somewhere.
People who freak about bugs perplex me. Almost as much as people who freak about a little poop or vomit. Geez louise, if you’re going to be around kids, there are going to be bodily fluids, stink and bugs. It’s just The Way It Is.
Oh **Senor Bus **, I was thinking of you yesterday while washing my hands in our downstairs powder room. It’s pitifully bare, and it’s been my desire since we moved in two years ago to decorate the hell out of it. It’s teeny and if it looks atrocious, then it can be done over without too much expense. Trouble is, I haven’t though of something fun and outrageous enough. What I realized is – no matter how many wacky ideas occurred to me, I can honestly say that copulating monkeys was NEVER one of them.
Why is every ad in every thread I’ve visited for the Jesus Camp Movie?
I refuse to even click on it. I think I’m a little scared.
Scottish NonBagPipeTypePerson --I never had a nickname either. My RL name is Eleanor (gee, what a surprise–it was a real stretch of creativity to come up with my name here). Never had a nickname–outside of 4 eyes one summer from some mean New England kids (long story). I loathe the name Ellie, had a cousin named Ellen-so that was out.
In fact, it is only here that the name Rigs has stuck. So, bring your brother on board-we’re sure to give him a nick!
Handyman is here-am getting the rest of the kitchen finished (stuff like ceiling fan etc).
Pouring here (again)–I am sick of rain.
I have an aunt named Eleanor, who was called Ellie by her (now ex) husband. (Ha, also now-dead.) Nobody ever calls me Ellie, but sometimes I’m called Elle, which I think sounds tres classie. “She,” you know.
Oh, “Ellen” is my real name as well!
He keeps saying that he doesn’t have time. Come on! The army can’t take up that much of the day, I think he’s just lazy.
I swear that it’s been raining here for almost two weeks solid. And on the rare occation when it isn’t raining then it is heavily overcast and desperatly trying to rain.
Actually I’ve been enjoying it, I love rainy overcast days.
We can even suggest his username: Matt McCello
Morning, cool kids!
Not a lot to add today. My life is mundane and pointless.
I never had a nickname either, that’s why I like y’all calling me Rebo. It’s way cool!
I started a landslide yesterday here at work. I was given some drawings and models to check - the new guy did them. So it sorta snowballed into I’m having a meeting to teach the newer designers, and some of the engineers, what are “best practices” and what to include in a packet to give to a checker. Fun times, I tell ya. I like teaching, though. I’m not the best at it, but it’s fun, and I get better with more practice.
Raining here, too. I think I will do indoor chores instead of taking the laundry out. I’ll do that tomorrow or Friday. I got up late, and I’m about to have tea and zuchinni bread for breakfast. I feel very indolent- well, indolent minus the fact that I have to sweep, vacuum, and mop, bleach the kitchen, sort all the socks, and do a bunch of other stuff that I don’t remember. I will not start until eleven.
Don’t break something, gt. I’m amazed that anyone pays attention.
Oh, it’s all dark and sleepy here. I want to go back to bed!
Probably not, gt…in true Miss Piggy style I have said my piece, flipped my hair and trompped off with my [del]snout[/del] nose in the air. It is now up to Mr. Anachi to come in with the big guns.
I hate days when I come into work and there are three or four people who NEED me do to something URGENT RIGHT. A. WAY. Please, people…it will keep till after I’ve et my oatmeal and signed on to the dope. Jeesh! I have my priorities.
Tupug
I played hooky yesterday, and so did the SO. I just wanted a day off where I wasn’t moving or packing or doing anything.
My SO brought back Curse of Monkey Island the game from his brother, and it is freakin’ hilarious! I love it so far.
Also, still no DSL at home. I will try to bring in the thumb drive tomorrow so I can post my pics from the Faire before everyone forgets what we were talking about.
Wish I could do that at work! Problem is, I’m the new kids (one of) and the guy who prepared the instructions on how to create the stuff we’re supposed to test was a Highly Paid Consultant from a Very Prestigious Firm. So we’re given instructions that amount to:
- break container open
- pour liquid on moderately shallow bowl
- whip liquid until homogeneous
etc etc
and we’re not sure if that’s ok or not, since it doesn’t say whether we’re trying to make a mayo’n’egg sandwich, fry an egg or make a potato omelette. All we know is there’s eggs involved.
Since most of the people in the team are new, the programmers are all new and the people who have been around only know what they learned from the HPCs from several VPFs, it makes for a lot of guessgames.
That’s what’s this morning is about. At least it’s cloudy and coolish for around here. Only in the low 70’s! Hyooooooooomid as all getout, but at least not so hot. We’re supposed to get rain by this afternoon. We’ll be done unloadin’ and storing aigs by then though. I’m sick of Easter aigs! The next part will be go through some yuck boxes cause some of the aigs in those boxes will be salvageable (salvagable?). I do believe that will be assigned to those who have not had the pleasure of metal Easter aigs yet. Oh, and you know how yesterday I said I was pullin’ rank and haulin’ in “volunteers”? It worked! Ain’t even been bitched at (yet).
Back to the aigs!
We haven’t had rain here in ages. They say some is supposed to move in by tomorrow; we shall see. I hope it does rain. We really, really need it.
I hope those that aren’t/weren’t feeling well are feeling better.
I don’t have a nickname either and have never had one, even with my RL name. My RL name is fairly short anyway and one of the reasons I was given then name was so people couldn’t shorten it.
I’m still frickin’ buried here at work. I am soooooo, sooooo ready for Friday.
I don’t really have anything exciting to report. I am the epitome of mundanity…(I don’t know if that’s a word, if it’s not, it is NOW).
