w00t! Go eleanor!

Yay for eleanor!

vhat iz dis “w00t” i keep seeink all over da place?

“Woot” just means “yay” or “great”–w00t looks like l33t speak to me and I no speaka the l33t speak.
I want me some ribs, smothered in sauce and dripping down my chinnychinchin.

Yay! Congrats rigs!!

OK… opinions needed. What do we think of this wedding gown? I’m pretty tall (5’8") and thin… well, I thought I was thin until I started looking at vintage wedding dresses and discovered I’m extra large. ::sigh:: But still, in today’s world, I’m thin so a long silhouette should work. I was leaning towards off-white/ivory, but I’m really into this (white) dress anyway. Will it look hideous if I’m pale white myself in December for the wedding? I’ve been warned that the train will get heavy. Should I be too concerned? Other thoughts?

Also, what is the communal knowledge of Celebrity cruises? We’ve found a 5-day one that starts in Miami that sounds like a great honeymoon.

very beautiful! I love the line, and I’d vote for getting the extra crinoline for fullness. Do they not have tanning salons in Tech Valley? you only need one session to “nutralize the blue” as George Carlin used to say. That train looks light compared to some I’ve seen with ruffles and beads and pearls and embroidery. You’ll be bustling it for the reception, right? I wouldn’t worry.

Does lace itch you? If not, it’s gorgeous(the thought of lace makes me scratch).

Vintage…hmmm…and just how malnourished WERE these people? I feel like a linebacker sometimes!

Not as well-nourished in general. Even things from the Fifties are a bit on the small side. Some of the extant late 19th century gowns are tiny. I like the dress, but I like Thirties better. All that bias-cut satin.

I have a sudden desire to do some more sewing. No, not wedding dresses.

Like anyone in the MMP is patient or even knows what the word means. They’re the people in hospitals, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi, everybody! Been away for a while, and then for some reason I went stupid (shutupshutupshutup) and couldn’t find the MMP today. But - here I am!

Didja miss me?

Riggs, good job!

I’ve been to so many dermatologists that I’m afraid of tanning salons. We’ll see. I may have to do it.

Thanks everyone. I’m really loving this dress. Has anyone ordered something big like this from eBay before? I’ve never ordered anything over ~$15 so I’m a little nervous about that.

Very pretty gown. It’s not too fussy, which is what appeals to me.

As for cruises, my mom is a big fan of Royal Caribbean. I’ve never cruised myself. Yet. Some day, I hope…

I love muffins - love, love them. Sweet, savory, whatever - they are the perfect food because there is infinite variations, and they are portion controlled by nature.

I love brussel sprouts (although I now call them fart blossoms because that’s what swampy calls them). I love biting them in half vertically, so I can look at their miniature layers.

Given those two things - you are decidedly wrong to be intrigued by the idea of brussel sprouts muffins. That’s alright - we all have our failings.

Been doing any good cooking lately? I’m making frosted brownies tonight! But they’re from a cookbook called Light & Easy Baking, so they’re semi-healthy - only 14% fat. I’m on a mission to cook more from my cookbooks. I’m such the Cooking Light person, it’s time to spread my wings!

Susan

taxi, the gown is lovely. I think you will look stunning. Have your make-up done professionally and you won’t have to worry about being pale.

Don’t know about celebrity but cruising if fun. Hint: get the dramamine patch.

This probably won’t help, but my husband bought a houseboat off ebay (or should I say oyvey? ;j ).

I have no idea how (or why) he did it, but large items can be purchased with ease…Is there any way to have the dress guaranteed? I mean what if there are stains all down the back of it? (not trying to add to your stress, I’m just sayin’)

Ribs were delicious.

Yay! Rigs, way to go! I knew you could do it.

Taxi, even to a (usually) clueless straight guy like me that dress looks great. Go for it. Of course, we’ll want to see pictures of you in it.
Gah! I’m turning into a doting uncle. Somebody say something macho, quick!

…ambles up to Bumba …gives him a sock on the shoulder, and says “So, how about those Seahawks, huh?”.

belches
scratches
spits

I cared Eleanor, I was just busy at stupid old work. Now I just say wahoooo!

As for taters, what kind of luck or predictions or whatever do you need? See, I really, really believe* in the power of candle colors over crystals. The different colors work toward different things though. Like, I could tell you yellow and green candles are good for when you’re moving out and then in (thinkin’ of ya Drae!). These would be disastrous to use for an exorcism.

Susan is correct; being intrigued by the idea of brussels sprouts muffins is very wrong scout. This shouldn’t stop you though, it never stops the Iron Chefs from making seafood based ice creams after all. Now, I’ve heard of brussels sprouts with glazed baby carrots. Using carrot cake as a base seems right, add some sprouts, then come tell us how they turned out.

Quite a lovely dress taxi. Just the right amount of frou. If you pay by card, is the purchase protected under that pay back dealie thing-a-ma-bop? And good make-up will help you avoid looking washed out, 'cause even my milk-white little sister looked good in her dress. Did you know you can buy a foundation airbrush machine for your own home? The things you learn channel surfing.

*[sub]As in, I actually don’t but they’re pretty, they smell good, and what if they actually do work?[/sub]

Riggsy, congratulations! I’d just like to say that you beat my verbal score. By a hundred points. No, seriously. And 510 is a good math score. Great job! What schools are you applying to? And what program?

taxi, love the dress. I also demand pictures of you in it. (Ha! I have defied your macho comments!) Speaking of which, I’m going to be back at RPI soon, so we should totally hang out again. What is “frou”?

I am not having a good week. My car left me stranded at 11:00PM 40 miles from home, because of a recall repair not done correctly. At least we didn’t have to pay for it. Hubby was working his regular 24 hours shift. I finally found a friend awake and willing to drive me to the firestation to pick up the truck. Then I had to get up at 0 dark:30 to go pick up Hubby. They kept it for two days.
On a happier note, I have more Kitten pictures.
I’m going to bed early tonight, so I’d better go finish my chores.

Awwwww…I knew y’all cared, I just wanted someone to take the bait of my about the phone call etc.
I was serious about my need for infor re the computers. That Mac that is so compact etc sounds good–could someone email me with a rundown of the attributes (GRE word!) for both Microsoft and Mac?

We have Windows XP right now and it’s ok, but I hear such good things bout Macs. I am VERY computer illiterate!

Spats --thanks for the nice words. Much appreciated over here. I bet you beat my math score by something exponential. Words I can do, but numbers…I was proud of my 510 (a personal best) but to put it in perspective–it’s the 30 %tile. I’m banking on my Verbal score and my all round stunning beauty, wonderful personality and amiable disposition to land me a spot. I am applying for the LEEP program at U of Illinois. It’s long distance ed–all on the computer. (so, I needs a new one–this one is too unreliable and filled with all manner o’ crap).
picu --love the sleepy kitty one. Such a pretty soft, but dark gray. I had a lighter gray cat with 4 white socks–we called her Reebok because they were high-tops.

Off to bed. It’s been a day.

Oh, one last thing: I think crystal colored candles should cover all contigencies (GRE word!)*, no?

  • I will point out “higher” vocabulary words until I forget or someone slaps me, whichever comes first…
