I bow to my new math overlord. You probably actually know the quadratic formula and all by heart!
LEEP stands for something that they made a bad acronym for. It’s something like Library(distance) Education E something P something. I forget. Hope they don’t aks me!
Pug and all other interested parties here is what I need for the program I’ll hopefully be in:
I think I’ve got the threaded text messages down pat.
Oh, and cheescake does indeed have a voice. For me, it is the voice of Colin Firth, whispering.
YMMV.
But IF the ‘hawks do get into the Supperbowl (yes, i know I spelled it wrong) and it’s played here, we’re rentin’ rooms! $1000/ night, shuttle service extra!
The quadratic formula that made my HS math hell had a square root in it, somewhere–or maybe they just did that specially for me.
Off to work-hope it’s not as bad as Tuesday. I wish the acuity would drop a bit.
rigby, the square root is indicated by the quantity in parens raised to the 1/2 power. I remember this formula, along with the dirty and the clean mnemonics for remembering the color order on resistors plus the dirty and clean ones for transistor characteristics. I can write out the chart, but I have no idea what it means any longer - I learned it over 30 years ago.
Does anyone even use transistors any more??
I also learned, this week in fact, that gt and I share a special bond. It’s like we have a secret club - neener neener neener!
Does the pope shit in the woods? Transistors are still the essential element of any programmable circuit. It’s just that the ones in use in, say, computers, now are microscopic, so no one talks about individual transistors anymore.
indecisive1, that formula is used any time you have an equation of the form: ax[sup]2[/sup] + bx + c = 0, where a, b, and c are just numbers and x is the variable. The quadratic formula is a quick and dirty way to solve for x. So if I have:
3x[sup]2[/sup] + 2x + 7 = 0,
the quadratic formula tells me that x = [ -2 +/- (-40)^1/2 ]/6.

Well, our plans may change today. My daughter is sick. She rarely gets sick, but she’s sick today.
She tells me her stomach hurts and that she feels like somebody punched her there. She also tells me she ALMOST threw up. Of course, she was up ALL night playing her game and I discovered her at 7:00 am this morning kind of panting and crying in front of the computer. I MADE her lie down. She feels kind of clammy and warm too, so I’m going to check her temp after I type this.
I am hoping with a few hours rest, she’ll feel better. If not, I’m going to have to cancel my plans for watching the game and then going to dinner later this evening.
Forgot to tell everyone that I’m in Memphis right now.
Yesterday was: Oak Court mall, Peabody Place, Texas de Brazil (where I spent more than I ever have on dinner, because I picked up the tab for both of us), Brokeback Mountain (although I had read the book, I still cried nonstop for about the last 20 minutes.), and then Beale Street (although almost everything had shut down, and most of the people there were homeless.)
Today is the Wolfchase mall. And… I don’t know. I should have announced this trip ahead of time, because the computer is about to get packed. However, if you really think that I need to go do something before I leave, my AIM is in my profile.
Just back from our morning runabout. We started at the post office where I mailed a calendar to a friend who’s going to remail it to my daughter’s friend - anyone here remember SpamFerries??
Then we had breakfast, ran to WalMart for a prescription and some critter food, then to the boat to check it out (it’s still floating), next to BJ’s for some food, and finally to Woody’s so FCD could get a haircut. I just finished packing and freezing the fish we got at BJ’s and I emptied and reloaded the dishwasher. I’m about to head to the basement to help FCD build the cat’s tower. Carry on!
There you go, being all productive and stuff again FCM. Don’t you just ever just, you know, RELAX on a weekend?
I’m feeling all guilty and stuff now because all I’ve done is throw a load of clothes into the wash. I’ve been checking up on my daughter and stuff, but she’s sleeping and I don’t want to wake her.
::Comes in from the cold where she is building secret clubhouse::
It’s almost ready, FCM! Just need to stock up on the chocolate…
In real life, I’m cleaning house and need to bake and need to clean kitchen & bath and need to wrap presents and need to move plants and need to take recycling and trash out and just let me just say: “Hellllppppp!” It’s almost 1:00 and company is supposed to be here by 6:30. At least we’re invited out to dinner.
Sorry you’re at work Delores and ems. Hang in there!
I’m with Taters on this one!
All I’ve managed is a trip to the grociery store. I did buy white cheddar so I can try out the cheese straw recipe, but that means grating cheese. Sounds like too much work to me. Maybe I can bribe someone to do it for me.
Have I not explained this before? Think about it - when I’m not doing anything, I have nothing to write, so I don’t. So you know when I have nothing to share that I’m being a bum.
Like now.
We just finished the construction part of the kitty tower. FCD had cut out all the wood parts some time back. I covered the blue parts, and he covered the carpeted parts. Tomorrow, I’ll sew a “cave” that’ll be attached to the top, giving Murray a place to hide and observe the world.
But for the rest of the night, I’m gonna pretty much be a bum.
gt, you did get the good chocolates, didn’t you? After all, we’re worth it!
But of course…lessee: Lindt truffles, an assortment of Ritter Sport flavors, several types of Dove and Ghirardelli, and Hershey bars, with and without almonds. Did I miss anything?
Of course, all my work on the secret clubhouse has put me a bit behind on the clean-up efforts. I’ve decided that baking won’t happen till tomorrow. I’ve got about 2 1/2 hours before I need to be showered and ready to go. Surely I can finish up…?
DING DING DING DING DING DING - we have a winner!!!
It’s blowing like crazy here, and snowing. Weatherfolk have issued a high wind warning thru 7AM - winds gusting 50-60 MPH. I just took Bernie out to relieve herself, and I saw our picnic umbrella blown toward the side gate, and the table it was originally in was up against a tree, on its side.
Yep, a mite breezy out there. And what little I can see reveals way too many branches strewn around the yard. I sure hope the trees close to the house are sturdy and not likely to fall on the roof…
