MMP: How to make Gravy

Hmm, this is true. You would all be very bored without my fascinating tales of housework and Husbands. I will probably give up fast food. Actually, all food out. I’ve thought about going vegetarian for Lent, but I dunno. So difficult.

Went out for dinner, and it was good but expensive. Now we’re home and Mr. Lissar has to go to bed soon to get up early for tai chi tomorrow. I’m a little sleepy but what I want to do is flake out reading or watching Buffy, and shouting, “Auugh! Overacting!” at the screen.

Vunder --that’s the most I’ve laughed at a potty joke ever.

Off to work, behave yourselves until Monday!

Oh-and the car is adorable. I got to drive it last noc–it handles really well (I like small cars). The dash is bizarre-it will take some getting used to.

First day of ceramics class - YAY!! I’ve showered, taken Bernie for her morning constitutional, washed and refilled the critters’ water bowl, emptied, then refilled the dishwasher, and wrote 2 checks to pay a couple of bills. I’m about to head out the door.

Happy Saturday, all!!

Dentist this morning. meh.

Today is chores and then work. It’s all slushy outside. I think I will make lunch.

I had weird, Lost-based dreams with random dead people in them last night. Maybe we should lay off the dvds.

Good morning all. I’ve showered and now I’ve got dry my hair and put my face on.

One of my friends has invited us to breakfast at her house, so we’re all in the process of getting ready to go. She lives in another community, so it will take about 30 minutes to get there. Anyway, it should be good.

I was up at about 6:30 this morning, had some coffee and watched the news. Other than that and the shower, I haven’t done anything.

I don’t think I have any other plans, except maybe to go hang out at another friend’s house this evening and watch movies. I leadsuch and exciting life.

Oh, my 13 year old son took great delight in providing me with way too much TMI last night. So, in the interest of keeping up the TMI and juvenile aspect here, I will share.

I was downstairs in the great room watching some TV when my son went upstairs. I thought he was going upstairs to watch TV in the bonus room or to listen to his stereo in his room.

At any rate, about 30 minutes later my son comes back downstairs. I said to him, “I thought you were upstairs watching TV”.

He replied, “No…I’ve been in the bathroom all this time.”

 “What?!” I exclaimed.

I asked him if he was sick, and he told me no, he just really had to go. So, my next question of course was if he had the mississippi quickstep. He told me no, he just had to go and there was A LOT to get rid of. He is a pooping machine, I tell ya!

I asked him if he stores it up for a week or what, because that is a looooooong time to sit on the pot unless you’ve got some other problems. No, he said, just a lot there. He then proudly informed me that he probably used up more than half a roll of toilet paper.

Cripes, no WONDER I go through so much TP. Thank goodness he used his bathroom and didn’t trash the downstairs bathroom!

FCM, I can’t wait to see your next creations. They should be good!

I best get going now.

Yay, it’s Saturday!

I’m being a lazy so-and-so this morning. I didn’t even fix breakfast. We ate leftover stroganoff around 10:30.

Tom is Home Depot-ing. Looking for rain gutters.

Maybe I’ll pick up the sewing project later…

back from tooth land. clean bill. (is there a toothier smiley than that one?)
It’s so windy today 2 car alarms just went off, mine, and one down the street

FCM - If you intend to sell any this time, I’d like first pick of your new ceramic “litter”

This morning I woke up and there was a bunch of yellow crusty stuff around my eyes, like back in boot camp when a nurse told me I had conjunctivitis. Well, I looked up the symptoms on WebMD and it looks like I didn’t have it then and I don’t have it now either (although I definitely had something infection-like back then—there was tons and tons and tons of yellow drainage, like some kind of drainage marathon). But apparently if they drain again in the next 24 hours I might need to see the doc.

Luckily for me, I was going to make an appointment on Monday anyway because I’m on my umpteen-thousandth cold since boot camp (I never had all that many before), my throat has been sore on and off for a month or so, and my girlfriend and I are getting tested for tuberculosis because her son’s case of TB is really roaring.

Other news: Usually my girlfriend and I exchange text messages in Spanish all day and especially through the early night. Last night she was out drinking with the girls and I sent her a text message in Spanish and got this back in English: “Who the fuck are u?” I investigated the matter through text messages over the next couple hours and found out that it was just one of the girls who stole her phone to play a prank on her, and my GF was (most importantly) OK and (also important) not naked with men. (I verified this by calling her phone and getting an obviously female “FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU!!!11” (yes, there were multiple exclamation points and there was definitely an eleven) in return, which was highly consistent with the written diction of said girl. Who also told me “Come and pay the bill (bar tab). I might fuck u tonite.” I told her no thanks, and could I please talk to my girlfriend? She refused. Hopefully my GF got her phone back and this isn’t any wilder than I think it is.

I should note here that by “said girl” I’m referring to the native English speaker who stole my girlfriend’s phone, not my girlfriend.

Had a volunteer meeting all morning. Lots of planning done…yay!!!

Just had some mac & cheese for lunch. Should have some salad or something, but maybe that’ll be dinner. Really need to clean up here, including doing laundry. Also need to go to the library.

The Home & Garden Show is this week. I guess I should look at the schedule and see when I want to go.

Sounds like an…er…interesting episode there fetus.

Oh…also need to do some pruning and cleaning up both at church and in my own garden. Weather’s supposed to be nicer today than tomorrow, so I’d better plan that in.

Off to be productive in some way…

You know, I wish the girls on Lost weren’t always perfectly plucked and shaved and stuff. It’s interfering with my suspension of disbelief. They’re stranded on an island, and they all take the time and resources to shave or wax?

Other than that, I have made some chicken and lentil soup, and I am killing time until work.

I am still pooped. I slept OK last night but I woke up at least twice having bizarre and disturbing dreams. I don’t remember what they were - just that they were bizarre and disturbing. So.

Class was good. I threw three oil lamp pots, a vase-like thing, and a bowl. The class had 6 newbies (woulda been 7 if **FCD ** had felt up to going) so us five oldtimers just went to work, and the newbies learned the newbie stuff.

When I got home, I took FCD out for lunch, and we just got back. He’s napping. I want to nap - I may join him. Or not. Haven’t decided. It’s nice and mild out, but a front is supposed to move across the area overnight and drop the temps a bunch. I really should bring in a mess o’firewood. Maybe in a little bit.

I was going to do laundry, but I’m thinking I’ll save that for tomorrow. No sense cramming too much fun in one day…

Today, I have practiced being a slug. That’s pretty much the sum total of my day. Slept til 8:30 this morning. Got up and made coffee. Went out to the mailbox to get the paper. Read the paper and sipped coffee. Sat on my back porch and drank coffee. Checked my email. Got cleaned up and dressed. Went up the street to the Subway and got me a chicken bacon ranch sammich. Came back home, ate sammich had a beer. Took a nap. Talked to a friend. Had a beer. Now I’m here. I think I have done a pretty good job with slugginess (it’s a word!) today. Oh, and my outfit conists of an orange tshirt, grey sweatpants, white socks and my robe. It’s rainy, cool and icky outside. I have to deslug myself in a while cause I promised some friends I’d go to a little gathering with them around seven this evening. I don’t even have to drive, so I guess I could make the effort to find a shirt, a pair of jeans and some shoes to wear. Oh, my other effort of the day was to walk down the driveway to get the mail. That wasn’t so bad but the fact that I had to walk all the way back up the driveway carrying mail was almost too much to bear. I perservered and made it back inside my house though. Then I had a beer. I’m seriously considering having another beer. Oh, like there’s a doubt I will!

So, there you have it, today I am an ACBGless slug. I also called him this morning after I got enough caffiene in me to be coherent. His family is having a fish fry this evening. That sounds good. I’m jealous.
-swampbear (disguised as a slug today)

So much for ironing all those shirts… :stuck_out_tongue:

Ummm… oh yeah… I was gonna do that… I blame it on the rain. And… ummm… yeah, the rain. It’s all the rain’s fault. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!

I got home from the Jacksonville road trip at 4:45 this morning. I really didn’t get enough sleep, but if I sleep all day I won’t sleep tonight. And there’s another game tonight I have to get ready for, so I’m awake. Sort of.

One of the door prizes on the bus trip was a goalie stick signed by the entire team, and I won it! Now I have a goalie stick for my office wall!

Brother- and sister-in-law are in town with their grandson - they’re going to come to the game tonight and afterward I’m going to take the grandson to get player autographs. Bryson is a nice kid - if I had thought there was a chance I would produce one like him I might have taken the chance on reproduction. I know my luck, however - I would have had Damien.

It’s been raining here all day. Rain makes me sleepy. The tailgate scheduled for today was cancelled due to the rain, so I had to freeze the spaghetti sauce I made.

Did I mention rain makes me sleepy? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…

Brr! It’s cold out. I keep wandering outside to smoke and am itching to do some yardwork, but it’s too chilly to putter around in the garden. Of course, if I actually were to start working on the yardening, I’d likely warm up. But I just wander back inside. The air is cold and fresh and wintery, but it’s grey and cold and melancholy-provoking out.

I need some motivation to do some writing, since it’s Saturday, I’m home alone, and have the quiet and the time… Barring that, at least I hope to empty the dishwasher and do laundry.

What vegetable should I try and eat this upcoming week?

I think I’m a little slow today. I’m outside, playing in the backyard (raking and stuff) at the edge where “yard” meets “wooded slope” and rock-picking (to replenish the areas that have rocks, that’s the way the back yard came) and puttering about aimlessly. A little patio sweeping here, a little raking there, a bit o’ rock-picking, a bit of brush-trimming.

When it started snowing, I figured it might be a little early to be out playing in the ‘garden’.

I guess this means it’s either going to be housework, writing, or working on the endless bathroom improvement project.

Brr!

We’re not expecting any snow, but today’s almost 60s will become tonight’s 20s and tomorrow’s 30s. We brought in a pile of firewood and broke up some kindling for tomorrow. Tonight is a lazy evening. I want a Kahlua and cream. We don’t have any cream. <sigh>
