Is the sticking a reference to the slug slime?
Ooh… I could go for some Bailey’s, but I don’t think we have any. I might check the fridge, just in case. If not, we do have another bottle of wine. I do intend to putter and get things done tonight. With wine. That means getting off the computer. I need a stop-surfing pill.
Went to my friends house to eat some very good breakfast, but stopped on the way to pick up some OJ and croissants. Then we got stuck at every damn light. We were about 10 minutes late, but we made there.
At any rate, we breakfasted, talked, laughed joked and then left to head down Lacey (about 20 or 30 miles away) to watch another friend’s kid in a tai kwon do competition. The problem was, that by the time we got there we had missed his part of competion. We hung out there for awhile and watched some other kids, then we left.
We came back home and I caught some of swampy’s slugginess because I didn’t do anything but watch HGTV and the Food Network all day. I didn’t feel like whipping up dinner, and I had movies to return anyway, so I drove down the road a piece to drop off the movies, and then to Mickey D’s and picked up dinner.
I returned, we ate, and here I sit.
Tomorrow I’m doing my taxes. I’m just so looking forward to that. Blech.
So, that was my very exciting and oh so glamorous day. They should make a movie out of my life. Yeah, that would be some good entertainment…not.
We might have Kahlua and cream. I should check. It would make a nice lazing around after work drink, although it would discourage me from exercising.
Work was boring. Why do I have to work again?
What a night! FCD had trouble sleeping because of his aches and pains, and once he dropped off, I woke up and couldn’t un-wake. Part of it was the weird dream I had - and I never did find any cream so I can’t blame it on drinking last night.
The dream took place at work (gah - I can’t escape it on the weekend!!) There was a big meeting or something planned in one of the big conference rooms. Before going in, I decided a potty break was in order. That’s when I discovered the restroom was one big, giant, unisex bathroom. There were still separate stalls, so it shouldn’t have been a big deal, but for some reason, it bothered me.
Next scene was the conference room. Except it was more like a very plain ballroom - no nice decorating - more like a cheap hall one rents for “occasions.” And along with fellow employees, the room was full of Amish couples. Dancing. In a facility owned by the military. How many errors can you find in this picture (shades of Highlights Magazine!!!)
That scene segued to me waking up on the floor beside a coworker. Nothing funny went on - we were fully clad in work clothes - we were just stretched out in the hallway beside an elevator, sleeping. And we were on the fourth floor, which wouldn’t be a big deal, except the building where I work only has 2 stories. At that point, our CO came over, helped me up, then started flirting with me. <insert shudder here> Don’t get me wrong - I like our CO - he’s a nice guy and an impressive Navy officer - but he never appealed to me that way.
From there, I vaguely recall another scene in the bathroom, something about wax spread all over the floors and the stalls were now replaced with a bunch of shower curtains walling off each toilet. At that point, I woke up - it was before 4AM - and I’m now showered, dressed, and slurping down some caffeine. FCD is sleeping. He got up and suggested we go out for breakfast, but he looked like death warmed over, so I suggested he crawl back in bed. He did. He’s out. Maybe we’ll have lunch out.
My exciting plans for the day involve laundry. Maybe I’ll run the vacuum cleaner. And I should call my kid and help her do her taxes. I figure by 4 or 5 this afternoon, I should be in full-fledged zombie mode. And then the Amish will return…
good grief, FCM, that sounds like one of my dreams!
I’m always amazed at what dreams can invent. I don’t think of myself as a particularly creative person, but my dreams seem to prove me wrong. Now if I could only harness that creativity in real life.
I fell asleep on the couch again. Woke up at 1:00 and was too lazy to walk the twenty paces to my bed, then fell asleep again till 6 or so. Remembered that the alarm was still set because I had to get up for my meeting yesterday, so I transferred myself to the bed and slept till 7:30 or so.
Now I’m up and pondering whether to get out of here early and go clean up the garden at church and then go to mass or whether to wait till later…
I’ve had my oatmeal, so it wouldn’t take much time to finish getting ready. But I’m feeling pretty lazy. Maybe i’ll make some tea and finish the paper and then get going…
Still kind of sleepy actually…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Last night I dreamed that I was pregnant, and that my first doctor checkup had to have my husband, my closest friends and family, and my ex and his family all come. And my ex’s dad had surfer hair.
It was weird, and I’m grateful to be awake.
Good morning, everybody!
I have had breakfast and my first load of clothes is in the dryer. I’m so productive today. Much better than yesterday when all I did was watch TV and surf the net and read my book. Finished it, actually. Stephen King’s Cell. It was ok.
I have made my meal plan and written the grocery list. Tonight we’re having “Rosemary Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Creamy Mushroom Risotto” from the Food Network. Sounds so nummy, I had to try it.
That sounds like our Sundays. At least watching the Food Channel (here in Canada) makes me feel like going into the kitchen and cooking, then we have food for the upcoming week.
Now, if only the home/garden channel(s) really motivated me to work on the bathroom…
It’s not snowing here today. I think I will end up outside again, playing with rocks and dirt and my saw.
I got new toys today!! After we had breakfast, my sweetie and I went over to A.C. Moore’s - a craft store - looking for some stuff I wanted for my ceramics class. FCD was feeling generous and all. He bought me a set of tools (some of which I have, but most of which are new to me), some molds for making decorative medallions for my oil lamps, and a clay roller. Turns out the clay roller is, in fact, a pasta maker!! A cheapie, but a pasta maker nonetheless. I’ve already got some ideas that it’ll be useful for.
We then ran to Lowe’s and got me a tool box for all my new ceramics toys, since my little bag from last class isn’t even close to big enough.
I found a wheel for sale in Delaware near the Maryland border - I sent an email to the seller to see if she’s still got it and if I can see it next week. One step closer to my studio… woohoo!
I’m doing laundry now. Potato soup for dinner. Maybe I’ll bake a dessert. What prompted all this domesticity??
Now I have visions of FCM’s family getting ceramic pasta as Christmas presents.
Remember I said that last night I was attending a gathering of friends. Well, I did not know that it would involve a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge meal that would not be served until 9 P.M. I was expecting to show up somewhere where there would be stuff to nosh on, stuff to drink, and general carrying on and merriment. So, I ate supper before my friends came to pick me up. We get there, and our host is preparing this meal of roast pork tenderloin and a bazillion sides, followed by a dessert of homemade coconut cake. Plus there were hors’ doeuvres! Full as a tick swampy did not know what to do, so I defered on the hors’ doeuvres (ain’t y’all impressed I know how to spell that!) and took little portions of dinner all the while proclaiming that though it all looked oh so delicious, it was really late for me to eat so much, which was true, I just left out the fact that I had already eaten. I took a thingy of beef stew out of the freezer which was my supper last night. I declined dessert saying that I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I had a lot of sugar that late, which is true. I think I gracefully complimented the host while not overindulging. I gots me some couth I tells ya!
There was a baptism at church this morning. I like baptisms. This was for a cute little baby girl named, of all things, Ellison, but called Ellie by her parents. I was also lector this morning and didn’t mess up any big words. I was proud of myself.
After yesterday’s yucky rainy day, today is all sunny, though a little on the cooler side for around here with temps in the mid 60s. It’ll be 80 by midweek. Spring is a’springin’ all over here. My Bradford Pear trees are just before blooming and the dogwoods and azaleas are budding all over the place. They will be in full bloom within the next two weeks. Unfortunately, so will all the pine trees, so everything will turn yellow from pine pollen. GRRRRRRRR! I don’t have any pine trees in my yard and I wish my neighbors would teach their pine trees to keep pollen out of my yard. I guess that’s just too much to ask, however.
ACBG is working his way back home. I thought he was gonna wait until tomorrow to come back from west Alabammy but he called me a little bit ago and said he was between Selma and Montgomery, which means he still has a good almost three hours of driving to do. He’ll call when he’s home and tomorrow we’ll have “welcome home” time. He’s not working tomorrow, but I am, so by the time we have “welcome home” time, he’ll be well rested.
Went with some friends to see a barbershop quartet at a local library - They were really good - I mouthed along with some of the songs. Afterwards when I went to talk to them they asked if I was a barbershopper - I guess I was rather obvious. Then we went to this little ice cream/burger parlor - really good food. I had a Rachel (which is a Rueben with turkey and coleslaw instead of cornedbeef/pastrami and saurkraut) and curly fries. And I split an oreo cookie sundae with a friend. That place makes its own ice cream and it is GOOOOOOD
I believe swampy’s slugginess from yesterday is catching. What I got done today: surfed the net, updated some contacts, did one load of laundry, wallked to the library and dropped off books/movies that were due, and finally made it to church this evening. Nothing in any garden. No real cleaning up here.
But apparently I needed that. I’m sort of relaxed. And pretty much ready for bed, even though it’s only a little after 9.
Almost ready for another Monday…
