MMP - The Fire Within

Allllright then… Having couth is the antithesis of acting juvenile.

Being adulterous does have it’s benefits, though.

I’m jealous of susan’s trip to Italy AND her book cases.

Oh well, at least I get to have fun with swampy and draelin. That’s a pretty darn good consolation prize, I gotta say.

Wouldn’t it be more fun to have fewer bras?

indecisive1, they’d have to have it be 5X, or some other thing about 50, because L is 50 in Roman numerals. Which makes the possible advertising conundrum even more pronounced, because 50 is a nice round number so they’ll want to play it up that much more.

I’m pretty sure that thing about skate wings being sold as scallops is an urban legend. I’ll check Snopes later, I’m too sleepy now. It’s only 11:45 AM, barely daylight, and I’ve only been up for 10 minutes.
I have had both skate and sea scallops and they taste different. Similar, but not the same.
I’m babbling, I think I’ll take a nap.

I bought a bunch online this weekend, I should have 'em by Wednesday.

WHY does it always take at least an hour when you go to the Verizon Wireless store?? Argh. My whole lunch break. Really, VZ people… I did have other things that I might have liked to do during that time. Like, I don’t know, maybe eat?? Grrr. If they didn’t have the best coverage in this area, I wouldn’t deal with them.

A very appropriate OP - I was thinking about laying a fire tonight. If I was nice, I’d have it going all toasty before FCD got back from his Dr appt.

You all notice that I’m not messing with the fire, but am, instead, on line…

I came home to cat puke again. I am not pleased. Three spots in the dining room. Methinks she’ll be seeing the vet very soon. Stoopit cat.

The Stupid Bowl was on here yesterday, not by my choice. But I did enjoy some of the ads - specifically, the cavemen/FexEx spot, the fly-killing paddle spot, the streaking sheep, and the “Crime Deterrent” cell phone. Oh, and the card thing in the stadium was pretty cool, too.

Lessee, what else? I think I’ve self-diagnosed my left shoulder pain as a rotator cuff issue. A coworker was describing her symptoms and they matched mine exactly. But I’ll still tell the Dr about it on Weds and get his diagnosis, since he’s been to med school and all.

Plus today I got to do some on-line security training. It was very boring, nothing I didn’t know already, and I aced the final, so I got my official certificate and everything. Go me!

Won’t you burn your naughty bits? I suggest you stick with laying FCD instead…

And we have a strong early frontrunner for most juvenile post of the week.

We have a new boss. The new Canadian cabinet was sworn in this morning, so we now know who our new minister is. And that the two separate departments that the previous government had split my original department into just 2 years ago have been combined back into one again  . So now I have to start combining the two charts of accounts back into one before the beginning of April. This will be the sixth combination/split/recombination I will have gone through in the (more or less) “same” department (not counting the numerous internal reorganizations).

So, we were all together watching the Superbowl last night (well, everyone else was watching the Superbowl- I was watching the commericals and doing homework during the football part) when my dorm had a fire drill! During the Superbowl! We had a lot of drunken, angry people congregated on our front lawn…
By the way, my roommate’s rug smells and she refuses to get rid of it. Anyone know of any good deodorizers to get rid of the feet smell, so that I can actually stand being in my room and other people don’t mind visiting it?

My dear Spats I must thank you for pointing out my stooopid error so kindly. I shall hope that the other MMPers are only skim reading.

I’d try some Febreze first, which you can do sneakily while she’s not in the room.

Well, I’ve skimmed through today because I have 50 gazillion things to do tonight and have the following (ir)relevant comments:

  1. Fake fireplace. Used to be gas, but now has a pipe that goes nowhere. Often houses plants, sometimes a candle thingy, currently a winter arrangement that includes fake sugared fruits. It’s about time to move it out, but I’m not there yet.

  2. I’ll be in the swampfort if anyone needs me. (Went to dinner at friends’ last night. Superbowl was taped as only one of the five of us had any interest in it.)

  3. 6 times over what period of time, Bookkeeper? Sounds like fun. I work for a state agency and we’ll have a new governor next January. Should be interesting to see what that does to us.

  4. and this one should have been first…great OP, Sean. I thought it was going to have something to do with the Steelers and the inner fire it took for them to win, etc. etc. etc. Personally, I can relate more closely to fireplaces, so I was glad it was literal and not metaphorical fire.

and last, but not least,

  1. That mean Mr. Lissar! Don’t understand why he wouldn’t want you to build a fire in the middle of the living room. Do you need us to have a chat with him?

No, actually this one’s the last point, really:

  1. I’m insanely jealous of Susan and her upcoming trip to Italy. I’ve always wanted to go and still haven’t gotten there. Definitely take lots of notes and pictures!!!

Back later.

The first time I read this, I thought it said constipation prize.

Believe me, constipation is no prize.

[sub]Thank heavens for running, coffee and oat bran.[/sub]

Hi there…

I have two questions to ask of **FairyChatMom **or any other sewing MMPers. One is a problem, the other is a request for a suggestion.

Problem: My string keeps slipping out of the needle. I’ve tried adjusting the tension, and it doesn’t seem to do much. Better string helps but it still happens. Is there anything else I can do to make this stop?

Request: I have a piece of lovely silky fabric. It’s a dark green plaid, very subdued, and one of my SO’s favorite colors. I’d absolutely love to make him something for Valentine’s Day, but what? It’s too silky to make a pillowcase or anything like that. Boxers look way too intimidating to even try. Any ideas? Remember, I’m still kind of a beginner.

Thanks, all.

Im so sorry. The fabric is 64 inches x about 45. So not huge, and it has to be a small to medium project.

By string, I assume you mean thread? The only things I can think is the tension, and pulling a longer tail thru the needle before you start.

As for what to make, sorry, dunno what to suggest.

Pull a long, long tail through the needle, and maybe hold on to it for the first few stitches.

A lovely sunbonnet? No? If you don’t want to make clothes, then I suggest a pillowcase or decorative cushion.

It’s winter again! Big fluffy white flakes everywhere! It’s so pretty!
