So Monty and I are having our usual unproductive conversation, and the following exchange takes place:

Me:

Both saying the same thing, one indirectly, one directly. So then we get this:

David B:

So, veiled insults: OK. Check.
Honest expressions of opinion, complete with qualifying statements: Not OK. Check.
Lesson learned: Be more creative and subtle when insulting other posters. :rolleyes:

I know you like throwing your weight around, but this is bullshit. Why don’t you warn the veiled ones as well?

So was Monty warned about insulting other users, about a month ago, by 2 seperate moderators?

If so, then your post is valid.

If not, then you’re just whining - it’s perfectly reasonable for the mods to be more vigilant with posters who have been problematic in the past. If you don’t want to be warned, don’t be a problem.

Well, you did call him a “jerk”. He didn’t call you anything, he might have insinuated it, but he didn’t call you a name.

Here’s an idea: ignore insults, veiled or otherwise. Rise above them. You know, turn the other cheek and all that.

He said that his opinion of you remains unchanged. Has he stated somewhere in GD that he believes you are a jerk, or some other name that would violate board rules? As I don’t read GD very often (and have posted more there this past week than I think I did all last month;)), I honestly wouldn’t know. It is my opinion, based on that thread, that he may well have alluded (I just don’t know) to some previous comment of his wherein he said something like “Joe_Cool, you are an example of how someone can have his head so far up his ass that he can still eat”, but he did not specifically insult you. You, however, … well, David B covered it pretty well.
