Moderator Name Calling In Regard To members

I agree, no need for more than what they do today.

I’ve heard rumours a hummingbird will kill you as soon as look at you. The only thing stopping them from killing us all is the fact that they’re the same size as a baby carrot.

 And weigh less.

Hummingbirds are fucking MEAN. And they’re dicks. They’ll chase each other away from the feeders we have, when they’re plenty of sugar for everyone, just because they’re assholes.

I’ve found two dead hummingbirds on our deck. One hummingbird had impaled the other on its beak. I don’t know if the killer died from the impact, or if it starved to death after being unable to extricate itself from its victim.

Since moderator’s posts are just like regular old posters except when they do disclaim their post with the:

[Moderator hat on] tag or something similar, if they do moderate something without such a hat tag displayed, can they be warned for junior modding?

Is finding some way to stick it to the mods really that important to you?

Actually, something I studied in my thesis. Hummingbirds are a good counter-example to Optimal Foraging theory. They’ll expend energy to chase other birds away from an effectively infinite food supply like a feeder.

I’ve seen them chase hawks, macaws, and iguanas.

It was a joke, I say a joke, son.

Yeah, because I’m all about sticking it to the mods.

It was a joke.

Thank you.

I was a little touchy there, I guess, but you have to admit that some would seriously consider it if they thought it was even remotely true.

I know you said this was a joke, but if a mod DOES forget to tag a moderation activity, there is all kinds of drama about it. Plus certain members will misremember it for at least 11 years.

Also funny.

But do they know the supply is infinite, or are they doing what would make sense in nature, defending a supply that is large but limited so they have future access?

I have an iPhone with Safari. It renders the Dope just like I’d see it on my PC. I can see red text, green text, grape text, or whatever color people post. I can even format my text on the iPhone browser, though I do have to be precise with my finger taps, but it’s possible. However, no problems with displaying formatting that is like in my Firefox browser.

They don’t know the feeder is infinite, but they do the same thing with flowers: they will defend a whole bush, even if it has more flowers than they need at the moment, just to prevent someone else from getting a toehold.

Tapatalk on my iPhone presents monochrome text. Your colors (above) are rendered in black. My desktop, of course, is displaying the colors. So does Safari on the same phone.

Moot to me though because I don’t see a need for special emphasis (or additional emphasis) for moderator actions, be it color, size, font or whatever.

I was familiar with the term “Colibri” as a brand name for pens and watches. I had no idea that:

Aside from that, it’s the general word for hummingbird in various languages, including Spanish and French (and in German as Kolibri), derived from the original Taino word used in the West Indies.

Me, neither. I was just answering Lynn’s question.
