Hey, we need a “light bulb” symbol to indicate when we’ve seen the light. I mean, you can’t fight ignorance since 1973 without it! Can it be done? And, the code would be :LB, I wager.
Seeing the light…

Sometimes in the “heat of battle” (or even in a vigourous debate) it is easy to miss that one of the participants is a mod or admin. Bad, bad. (I’ve done it. )
Perhaps an extra-large symbol for mod- and admin-use only to bluntly announce: “Hear Ye!” (and maybe saving some bannings .)
That is a GOOD IDEA Sea, not sure how Iand if) they would make the vB software do that, but it’s still a good idea.
Or they could enable HTML for the mods only, then they could post warnings in big red letters.
Well, what can I say. The staff is rather busy right now, and smilies don’t exactly take top priority.
I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, but don’t expect any smilie changes soon. Perhaps when we get a little more time on our hands, we might consider updating the smilies legend. And of course, we’ll be sure to consult the Teeming Millions.
Lah, de, dah, test post.
How about a fancy font, like neon-green Matrix letters?
I like that last one, Mangetout, but I wonder if when it says “HTML disabled”, it doesn’t mean for those who are reading rather than for those who are posting? (So that <big> and <font color = ****> wouldn’t show up.)
Maybe when a Moderator or Administrator is acting in an official capacity, Coldfire, they could start off (or end up) with something like ":mad::mad: " or " :wally:wally" or maybe just some standardized thing like “ATTENTION, Dufus!”?
Sounds good.
I think the HTML is parsed in the process of posting; if HTML is off, then the board will add it to the post as text (my reason for thinking this is that I saw a link to a very old thread the other day, which contains all sorts of fonts, colours and graphics that could only have been created with HTML enabled; the post still views OK even now that it’s turned off)
