Modern Warfare 2: Whats the best gun?

Last night I switched from the ACR to the P90 because I’m close to some big xp with the P90.

Immediately I was doing much better. I WON more games in one night than I’ve won in my entire time playing MW2. They were all FFA games too.

But the matchmaking system has since balanced things out. I (non-prestige 65) am being paired up with people half way to prestige 10. (And I don’t mean prestige 1, rank 10. I mean they’ve prestiged several times)

I completely agree. The only reason I use Steady Aim Pro on some of my sniper setups is because it lets you hold your breath longer. Otherwise, it’s Ninja Pro.

I use the MP5K as my usual SMG. I’m using the Vector right now for a little variety, but I just go through too many rounds. I like the ACR a lot as well, but like the Vec, I usually run out of rounds right as I get my 5-kill streak. I’m reasonably proficient with most of the guns so I just pick up whatever is nearby at that point. For that reason I’ve used the TAR-21 a lot. The iron sights are pretty darn good and it doesn’t run out as quickly as the ACR.

The class that I’m really torn on is the LMG. I need to use them more to figure out which one I like best. MG4 with RDS is pretty nice, and the AUG is a lot like an AR. RPD feels like you’re doling out the harshness, but I’m not totally sold. Are any of these really “best?” When I use LMGs I’m generally standing off and almost sniping with them, since they weigh me down so much.

What’s the benefit of running m203s on an AR with One Man Army as opposed to just using Scavenger? My m203/Thumper setup has always seemed more efficient with Scavenger.

Dunno about the best, but I got really comfortable with the MG4 and grip. The grip seemed to eliminate kickback and spray so I am virtually able to use it to snipe (and then some - With a sniper you have to hope your one shot hits. With an LMG you just hold the trigger and stay on target and enough of your bullets will hit)

Thank you everyone for your input, I’ll give it a go.

The MP5K is by far the best gun. Get the rapid fire upgrade, and use the stopping power perk. You’re unstoppable on the small maps like Scrapyard and Rust.

Since I didn’t know there was a SDMB group of players: go ahead and add me. Jason666999 (mature, I know)

On what medium do you play?

Xbox.
Anyone here like to play Hardcore Search & Destroy? It brings me back to my SOCOM days.

I don’t mind it, but the noob tubing off the spawn gets real old real fast.

Lvl 70 XB360 here. I didn’t do prestige on MW2 because after doing it on COD4 I didn’t really care about the"challenge" of it. Plus, I like having all the guns to play around with.

I play ground war almost exclusively. My son also plays my guy on TDM. I’m one of those guys who sometimes runs around doing the Mr. Stabby or Mr. Dual Shotguns thing, but just for fun. More often than not it’s when I end up fighting a group that’s heavy on campers with sensors. Then it’s time for low-tech!

Mainly I just play the game for pure bloodshed entertainment factor. I die a lot and get a lot of kills, and usually play just a few rounds and then I sign off. My kills to death ratio is terrible, but I don’t care. It’s a blast to play.

I switch from ARs to Sniper depending on the map, and sometimes mid-game depending on the other players. I also have a lightly used LMG guy and my Mr. Stabby.

Main AR Guy:
AK47 w/grenade and red dot
Dual 1887s (Did they just nerf these or something? They don’t seem as powerful anymore. They were definitely overpowered)
Semtex
Flashbang
Bling Pro
Hardline Pro
Commando Pro
Killstreaks: Predator Missle, Harrier, Chopper Gunner

I don’t remember my sniper stats off the top my head, but I know the main gun is the M21 w/thermal

Ah, the good old days of SOCOM 2 …How I miss you! COD is great fun, but I’ve never had as much fun with online gaming as I did with SOCOM 2.

Never used this gun but loaded it up last night for a few games with rapid fire, stopping power and scavenger (no ammo issues after this) and had really nice results. It kills people almost instantly at close to mid range. Very nice for small maps or games like Domination and Headquarters were you may want to defend an area or cover a choke point.

Yeah, they were nerfed and they were overpowered. The ‘can’t play the game well’ crowd now seem to use dual G18s instead.

Hey. You. what’s your Gamertag?

The dual Rafficas has been growing in popularity as well.

Hey LOUNE, I keep getting invites from you while I’m in the middle of a game but when the game ends within a couple of minutes, they’re gone! So that’s why I haven’t joined you lately. I assume you have a full party by the time I try to join.

No worries. It’s a pain in the ass sometimes, with Infinity Ward’s crappy netcoding to get people into a party and keep them there.

Our paths shall cross.

G/T: King of Bees.

I’m trying some different secondary weapons now. The 1887s were definitely overpowered, but IMO they were overnerfed as well. It’s an end game gun, it should have better stats then a mid-game gun. But I digress. It’s not that big of a deal. I was getting complacent with my AR guy anyway.

I’ll give the MPK5 a shot (pun intended).

I see a lot of people using dual 1887s, but I never liked them. They used to have a really long range, but now they’re no better at range than something like a striker, and you only have two shots. Every time I try to use them I just get wasted.

I’m trying the G18 now, but I’m not as fond of it as I am the PP2000. It seems like I can’t see the target once I start firing. I don’t know if it’s the climb of the gun or if it’s the muzzle flash. I’m firing lots of rounds, but not getting as many hits as I would with the PP2000.
