Mods/Admins: do you have "most satisfying" banning anecdotes, ie, a rogue's gallery?

Justice is blind and impartial and dispassionate and all that, but surely a banning here and there resulted in the barely repressed cackle of pleasure or the merciful deflating sigh when abdominal cramps of frustration and annoyance pass.

In a previous thread one Mod/Admin compared the frisson attendant upon smiting a spammer to the deep crotchal™ chill of an incipient orgasm. Other Mods/Admins then added their own comments about the intense and electric spasm of delight on similar occasions.

If I may continue the analogy–I trust what I read were analogies–these were the zipless, revivifying quickies that are a feature of the daily routine of SD management.

Here, however, I’m asking about the resolution of long-running dramas, the ones where the bad guys die at the end.

Obviously, you don’t have to give their real names, that is, their real usernames. Unless you want to.

Also, more seriously: I know that at heart this is a serious topic which SD, to its great credit, takes seriously. (That makes three.) Deliberations must be difficult, and the in-camera proceedings of the debate probably should remain not for public consumption, barring the historical record of in-thread notes and warnings.

But if you do think you can go public and name a few names, it would thereby create an “SD Biggest Asshole” list, which, like the spiked-head attereaux of the banned suggested in another thread, would be a sobering warning to all while being great fun to goggle at.

Actually, I personally always find it sad when someone who SHOULD be a valuable contributor falls into repeated violations of the rules. I’m the one always hoping for a last chance, always thinking they’ll change their ways, and I’m always disappointed when they don’t.

IANAM but I don’t imagine there’s a lot of satisfaction in banning somebody. They just decide to ban somebody and it’s done. It’s like winning some kind of competition or solving some difficult puzzle - it’s more like doing some kind of household chore.

I think a problem is too many banned posters had way too high an opinion of themselves. They imagined themselves as brave rebels challenging the forces of evil when they were really just a sinkful of dirty dishes.

You’re asking us to trash people who can’t defend themselves and gloat about banning posters who (at least in some cases) were people’s friends. No, we’re not doing this. If you want to talk about wacky spammers or trolls and things like that, I think that’d be an OK subject. But I’m closing this one.
