Zagadka had been discussing with SG with irony, logic and knowledge. He calls ‘her’ racist atthat once and is instantly reprimanded.
In the light of this piece of advice from another mod, I wonder:
I am advised not to call them names or make fun of them.
I am advised not to discuss with them either.
So the only option left is to leave them alone. And what happens when they find someone in agreement who replies and turns what should be an ignored thread into a ranting racist manifesto for all to see?

Ignore it. TubaDiva is spot on in that post. Don’t Feed The Trolls. Just like the class clown, they do what they do to get attention. If a Stormfront troll came here, I’m sure the mods will take care of it soon enough.
I’m not sure reprimanding Zagadka for the racist asshat remark is akin to taking care of SF trolls, so my question remains:

Same thing you do to the pervie who flashes you on the subway. Same thing you do to the drunk on the street corner who talks to public dustbins. Same thing you do to that LaRouche groupie handing out fliers.
So the SF trolls find someone in agreement here? Like I said before, let the mods/admins take out the trash, cos that Ain’t Our Job, see. Insofar as Zagadka’s comment is concerned, if (s)he had to flame another member, let that flamage happen in the Pit.

I note that it’s funny to see Czarcasm whooshed. E. E. Doc Smith is a Science Fiction writer. Squick was making a riff on the phrase “SF trolls” in the title by posting an outrageous comment about a SF author.
Exactly. There really isn’t anything the Average Poster can do by way of forestalling overt and unpleasant racists, other than the general “Do not feed” rule. Frustrating though it may be to encounter them on the boards, really the best thing to do is just sit on your hands and don’t waste your time posting pointless insults like “you, sir, are a racist ass” (He’s heard it before, and by the mere act of posting it, you’re feeding him–he likes feeling persecuted for his beliefs, he knows perfectly well they’re considered reprehensible by everyone here. He enjoys being told he’s a racist ass, it gives him lots of attention).
And telling a pair of racist asses who are happily having a racist conversation in a thread that they are racist asses just causes them to stick closer together, and to go back to their home message board and tell everyone how the SDMB was picking on them but they triumphed.
Just walk on by. I know it’s hard, but it’s something that a LOT of us have had to learn to do, and it’s a useful skill, too. It keeps your blood pressure down, and it keeps you from getting so hot under the collar that you end up impulsively posting insults in the wrong forum and getting an official “Knock it off” from a Mod.
The occasional GD thread that does develop into a full-blown racist, hatred-spewing trollfest is always quickly moved to the Pit, where Dopers armed with better and sharper weapons are available for dealing with it. And they do so, admirably.
One of the things I have always valued about the SDMB is its willingness to tolerate even the most obnoxious and annoying “alternate” views, on whatever subject. Threads lauding the superiority of the White Race are never simply automatically locked down just because of their subject matter–the feeling here is, “You can’t fight ignorance if you can’t talk about it”. So as long as everyone involved can stay polite in GD, there’s a wide latitude given for discussing the superiority of the White Race. Which IMO is a Good Thing. The freedom to discuss unpleasant matters is a Good Thing, something to be treasured here.
And if it’s gonna bug you to hear people in GD seriously discussing the superiority of the White Race, then maybe you should just not open those threads. I know I personally have several categories of GD thread topics that I never bother to open, because I know I’ll just get annoyed, and I don’t come to the SDMB to “get annoyed”.
Quite right; I hadn’t realised it until now, but every single one of my previous posts on this board has consisted of a couple of throwaway lines in a lame multiple-redundant pissy third-party whine thread.
