Mom gives Botox Injections to 8 Year Old

8 year old pageant contestant gets botox injections and leg waxing from mom. Apparently it was the daughter’s idea, because she was concerned about her wrinkles.

Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Child beauty pageants always skeeve me out, so when a child “asks” to go as far as this, I can’t help but think the impetus isn’t entirely from within her own mind.

That’s what I think, too - the defence for this that the moms always use is that the kids love it and they are the ones always wanting to be in pageants and do all the stuff involved in that. That defence has always rung hollow to me.

I’m just a bit puzzled how there could be any wrinkles to smoothen, in an 8 yr old’s face.

This made me really sad for the little girl. What kind of a lesson does that teach her? Has anyone ever seen a little girl with wrinkles? Also, based on the video, it almost seems like it really wasn’t the girl’s idea. Her mom kind of evaded the question about whether her daughter asked for it by answering, “She didn’t exactly ask me about it, but I know she was complaining about her face and wrinkles.” Sounds kind of like the daughter mentioned having wrinkles and her mom put the idea in her head.

Seems like child endangerment.

Did she do the slut walk? It’s always a winner among juries, and if done with proper enthusiasm, 8 years old wrinkles might be overlooked.

That’s sick, twisted, and if that woman really is a licensed aesthetician, she should have her license revoked. The only reason a little kid would get that idea in her head is because she hears her mother complaining about her own problems. There is a real danger of injecting a nerve and causing permanent facial paralysis. That’s why only medical doctors should be administering Botox, along with any other medical procedures that should require the patient to sign a consent form. That child really could end up looking like she has Bell’s Palsy or something for the rest of her life, with no one but her mother to blame. A little kid cannot make an informed decision for something like Botox.

Given how much you despise children, why would you care?

And I was uneasy about adults getting themselves shot up with Botox.

This article yields more clues to Kerry Campbell’s thinking, and its impact on her daughter.

Christ, I already wouldnt trutst that much a “look specialist” that seems a few pounds short of being morbidly obese, but that shit, just whao.

Those quotes are pretty horrific.

I bet the Mum knows this, and that the resultant publicity will get her daughter on TV or having lots of talk about her online, and that’s what counts.

Giving Botox injections to a child seems pretty horrible to me. And after reading those quotes, the waxing sounds pretty skeevy too.

Someone can be childfree and generally dislike children, and still be disturbed by cruelty aimed at said children.

It is possible to have empathy for those we dislike, a very human trait it is.

I’m mostly disturbed by Child Beauty Pageants because of how far the pushing inevitably goes.

Little girls like dressing up in pretty dresses and having people ooh and ahh over them. I have no argument with that facet. But IMO that’s as far as it should go. It’s the unceasing drive to win win WIN at all costs, to the point where they are spraying, waxing, shaving, piercing, injecting and otherwise trying to mould their daughters through unnatural means, that bothers me.

I can see how a little girl “likes it” and asks for it when “it” is dressing up, putting on some lip gloss and getting told how pretty she is. I can also see how that morphs into her “liking it” because the only way she gets any positive attention from mommy is when she’s the Most Perfectest Pretty Princess of Them All, and that saddens me.

Am i missing something here?

Why are Britney and Kerry from San Francisco, California in the OP’s linked article, and yet the same Britney and Kerry are apparently from Birmingham, England in the article linked by spark240?

Maybe the idiocy is intercontinentally contagious?

Parents are meant to stop kids from doing stupid things and not give in just because the kid wants something inappropriate. This lady even gives her the shots herself which is even more irresponsible. She could really mess up the kid. She needs the child put under supervision by the state social services, and to be put on notice that injecting the kid again will get her jail time and loss of custodial privileges. People discount the dangers of Botox injections too much and it becomes less effective the more you use it. I had it twice for medical reasons. The first time I had 6 months of relief. The second time only partial relief for a couple months. I would not get it for wrinkle smoothing.

A quick Googling veers strongly towards them being British.

The British Sun article indicates that they’re originally from Birmingham, but have moved to San Francisco.

Please keep them.

I would be willing to bet she uses that crap for eyelashes as well, the stuff that can change eye color and really should not be used for purely cosmetic reasons …

mrAru has a valid medical reason to have used it, alopecia [eyelashes are used to help keep particulates out of the eyes …] and even he thinks using it just for better eyelashes when you actually still have eyelashes is just fucking stupid.
