My mother broke her leg a few weeks ago, and has been staying at home while she heals up. She is a women that normally works a 50-60 hour week, and generally keeps herself pretty busy–her having to stay at home (under doctor’s orders) is driving her stir crazy. So, she’s been coming up with different projects that she’s put off for years to do (cleaning out files, putting together photo albums)… but I think she’s run out of things to do, because I came home last night to a little surprise.
She has pulled out several boxes of Christmas decorations and has started to decorate the living room & dining room. My lovely French Provencial dining room table set-up has been turned into a Winter Wonderland. Little fuzzy holiday teddy bears are tucked into corners. Regular dropcloths have been replaced by red & green tablecloths. I haven’t even put together my Thanksgiving menu yet!
I know I shouldn’t be too harsh on her; she has been suffering on all levels since she broke her leg. But Christmas Decorations?
Wow. Doesn’t she have any Thanksgiving decorations or something? What about sewing? Cross stitching? Latch hook? Something?! Poor woman. I can imagine…
I can’t help but giggle Java, I feel bad for getting my stuff out the day after Thanksgiving.
You poor thing you will have to endure holiday decor for two months. It’s bad enough that the commercials have started but to have the decorations up now?
OY!!!
I agree with Silver, how about introducing her to a craft of some kind. Places like Hobby Lobby have books that are filled with different kinds of crafts, not just one area…
