And hypocrisy.
Bridget Ziegler’s Gay Ex-Friends Are Sad About Who She's Become
Old friends of the Zieglers—from when they called their social group “Melrose Place”—are shocked and saddened by the couple’s anti-LGBT turn and messy public downfall.
And hypocrisy.
I think they misspelled Mothers for Libidos.
I’ll be happy when this group becomes one of those mostly-forgotten factoids in US political history.
Liberty biberty.
EMU!
I hate those commercials.
Libertinity more like.
Those moms need to go back to school. Perhaps some sort of Liberty University?
I think they misspelled Mothers for Libidos.
I think someone here called them Mothers for Libertines and I thought that was a great name for them.

Look, I’m not going to kink-shame Moms for Libertines.
Yeah baby!
I like those nicknames.
My fave is still “Minivan Talibans”.
Decent roundup over at the Daily Beast about the Zieglers: “About a decade before Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler championed Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law, she was a Sarasota socialite who partied with a coterie of gay friends.” Her husband Christian also had gay friends.
Needless to say, the former friends are disappointed and hurt. Christian is characterized as motivated by, “Power, money, and women”. Bridget attended classes in college but lacks a degree, so the political appointments were a step up for her - though her personal charm was apparently thought to be a professional asset for her husband.
As for the threesome that got Christian into trouble, Bridget had misgivings from the beginning:
The report also revealed texts between Bridget and Christian from 2021, where they discussed the accuser for a future ménage à trois. Christian called the woman “an alcoholic” and a “nice person with some issues,” and Bridget replied that she “prefers confident empowered people.”
“I just don’t want to feel like we ever take advantage of anyone (I know it’s always been consensual) but she seems…. ‘broken’ or like she’s going through some shit- and I don’t know- that’s the vibe I pick up from her- and my nature is more likely to help her versus…ya know,” Bridget messaged her husband.
Her husband doesn’t come off as well to say the least.

This being the Dope, a number of posters might be tempted to jump in saying they don’t feel sorry for Bridget or Christian, or they might feel inclined to dismiss Bridget’s show of responsible polyamory. Have at it if you want, but I like to acknowledge the silver linings of opportunists and hypocrites. Lots of people support scapegoating to various extents under various regimes with various levels of harm to various people, some of them children. Christian and Bridget don’t appear to me to be as bad as Joseph Goebbels or Khieu Samphan. Along the same lines, Darth Vader served in the military. Some perspective is in order.
I know I’m responding to an old post, but when Pete Buttigieg was running for president in 2020, he made a campaign appearance in Des Moines, and the infamous Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue (if you don’t remember, they were the best known organization that blockaded abortion clinics) was there and started yelling, “Sodomite!” ISTR that Pete’s reaction was, “Wow, want to tell me what you really think?”
BTW, I learned since that Terry has/had at least one gay child. Justice.
Pass the brain bleach.

Not for that poor kid.
Not for that poor kid.
+1 +1
True.
Tonight on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley interviewed two of the founders of MFL. I thought he did a pretty damn good job of emphasizing that they continually danced around his questions and just always repeated the same old RW talking points, like how the Teachers Union is grooming our children.
And that the people who advocated for banning the books obviously hadn’t read them.
update on the Zeiglers:
Sarasota Police memo details communication between Florida GOP power couple Bridget and Christian Ziegler as they searched for threesome partners.
