Interesting. I went to Catholic grammar and high school. No bibles for us. We took religion class in all grades, but nobody was ever given or required to have a Bible. This was in the 80s.
Atheist here since teen years, but I have two Bibles – the Revised Standard Edition I acquired during my childhood being raised Congregationalist, and a King James because, well, the language, y’know? Can’t remember the last time I cracked open either one, though.

To me it doesn’t matter if it was just once. They went through the process of creating this anti-LGBQT anti-history/education group, and had a three way fling with a woman. I am not anti-LGBTQ, not anti-history. I believe in live and let live, yet I would not indulge in that sort of relationship. If you are that passionate about your cause, you are a hypocrite if you take part in the behavior you are railing against even once.

I’m somewhat favoring the latter. The former has the powerful elites completely sublimating their sex drives into oppressing others, which can indeed happen. The latter still has oppression as an outlet for sadism, but after a hard night in the torture chamber, a guy needs to cut loose. Examples abound. Nikolai Yezhov threw orgies, Beria kidnapped and raped, etc. It’s not enough that they have the power to deny other people freedom ; they also have to gorge themselves of the most animalistic expressions of freedom.
