Monday am going to finance a Chrysler 300 SRT8 with everything...

Hey, I like Chryslers. Big ones, anyway. Their midsize and entry level products are a bit meh. I came down on the SRT-8, however, because the OP asks us if it’s “worth it”. If you don’t mind going through a $50 tank of gas like it’s Gatorade, then sure, it’s worth it. I think to a vast majority though, it is not, and I feel this sort of thinking is part of the reason that Chrysler’s image isn’t so great, and explains their inability to penetrate a market that is becoming more conscious of the need for cars that get 30+ mpg with every passing day. It’s reflected in their upcoming advertising campaign that addresses their “displacement on demand” cylinder deactivation feature in the 300. DCX seems dangerously behind the curve in offering customers the same fuel-saving strategies being developed by many other manufacturers.

The market is changing and the success of manufacturers will lie in increasing fuel economy for the foreseeable future, and emphasizing that fact in their marketing. To me, it just seems like Chrysler’s hybrid strategy (or lack thereof) has impacted their bottom line. I’m no tree hugger, but I don’t want to see Chrysler come to the hybrid gunfight armed with a knife either. Until last week it seemed that way. They just announced last week that they’re working (with GM and BMW) on an electric continuously variable transmission which increases the efficiency and operation of battery systems in hybrid drivetrains. Hopefully something like this will make its way into their products soon. Imagine, a 300C that gets 40mpg city! Almost an oxymoron.

The car was a piece of shit. It was completely unreliable. The cupholders comment was an aside.

For the record, I don’t drink “24 ounce bottles of carbonated sugar water”, or any soda in fact. Please keep your bullshit assumptions to yourself.

To me, the cupholders were symbolic of the entire vehicle, poorly designed and infuriating.

And for the record, I said the cupholders were probably designed to suit the stereotype of Americans having an appetite for keeping their big beverages mobile (a facet of car design which has not always been a top priority in Germany), not for the assumed size of August West’s waistline. How truly unlike someone to take a general statement so personally on this board.

Ahhh, I see. The rest of the post was a response to me but that one sentence was a generalization toward all Americans. Silly of me to think it was a barb aimed in my direction. Especially considering the cordiality of the last sentence.

I’m with August on this one. Something about being snarky…then being surprised when someone takes offence. Like that never happens here. (Do I need a :dubious: here?)

It cracks me up how this OP has generated such heated opinions, when from the looks of it it’s a woosh.

You should get a Ford 500 instead. Because it’s [Spinal Tap]200 more[/Spinal Tap].

I did not read the entire thread, so hopefully I will not be repeating anyone.

I have a two year old 300. I LOVE it. I drive about 100 miles a day, the gas mileage is average for the size of the car, I burn a little less than a quarter tank a day.I drove a mini van for 10 years, and my 300 is a big big improvement . I love my heated seats, the sound system, and the navigation system. I do not have the Hemi but the acceleration is just fine without it.

I have had no mechanical or any other issues with it,It gives a nice smooth ride, and handles great.
