Just curious: am I the only one who thought Alex would come back after the break and disqualify the “buffalo head nickel” answer?
What was the clue? I don’t see it on Monday’s archive.
I didn’t see it but I’m guessing it was this:
Today’s episode included a question in the first round for which the answer given was “buffalo head nickel.” Is that the episode you’re thinking of?
:smack: Yep. These holidays have got me all disoriented.
IRON TAIL, TWO MOONS & JOHN SMALL BERRIES
Silent-era Native American gay porn stars?
I thought of Buckaroo Banzai…
I did too. In fact, a quick Google search doesn’t find any mention of an indian named John Small Berries. Does anyone have any info on them, or are we getting wooshed along the way?
that same woman also thought centimeter was a measure of weight LOL
No, you’re not the only one. The answer, “buffalo head nickle” was not really correct. I have a small collection of these, accumulated by my grandfather who began saving them after they went out of production. I have only ever heard them called “buffalo nickles”. According to Wikipedia, “Indian head nickle” was also used. I can find no reference to “buffalo head nickle”.
from Wikipedia:
And was the genesis of this expression.
No, she guessed that several seeds of a particular kind measured one centimeter, even though the clue specifically referred to a metric unit of weight. In other words, she was either confused or just not paying attention.
Nope. Me too.
I was sure she was going to get dinged for it.
Actually, I have a collection of these as well, and for some reason we grew up calling them buffalo head nickels, a complete misnomer. If you look on eBay you’ll see that I’m not the only one, and you can find it used elsewhere with a Google search…
