money in my bra

i asked one time before. didnt hear from many women. do you think it looks tacky when a gal carries her money or change purse inside her bra? its something i do in nightclubs and shopping malls. also did it on a date last month. would like to hear from someone thats done the same and what reaction she has had. linda

This should be in IMHO, but you’re new so you can be forgiven. And yes, I think it looks pretty damn tacky (from a guys point of view). A dollar bill or something I can see, but a change purse?!

I was at a grocery one day when a woman pulled her bills from her bra. They were damp from sweat. Blech.

Hi linda48. The General Questions forum is for questions with factual answers. If you’re looking for opinions, reactions, advice, etc. you should post your question in the IMHO forum.

I’ll move this for you, but please read forum descriptions carefully before you post your next question.

It’s tacky, but if you’re the right woman it can also be wonderful  Make sure if the change purse has too much change in it that you carry two of them.

I do this sometimes because in the summer I don’t like to wear things with pockets (they’re bulky) and can’t be bothered with a purse if all I have to carry is five bucks. And I did it when travelling to make sure my pockets didn’t get picked.

I don’t think it’s tacky but come to think of it I’ve never seen anyone do it.

I’m a woman, and think it’s tacky. If being robbed (or not carrying a purse) is such a concern, buy those hidden money pouches that are marketed to travelers - neck pouches, money belts, belt pouches that hang off a belt inside a waistband.

Just to clarify - it’s not tacky to do this necessarily. However, the OP asked if it looks tacky, which I took to mean that the women in question pull out the cash in public - that’s the tacky part. Thus my advice about hidden money pouches is geared towards if you need to retrieve your money in public.

No - why should it be tacky?

It’s great for convenience AND security. How many women lose their bags/purses when out - especially after a few drinks, or leave them unattended, or have them stolen, or snatched, or rifled through while they’re getting a drink at the bar, etc. Bags are cumbersome and annoying when you want to wear something very light and want to dance without carrying stuff around.

That said, UK fifty-pence pieces are DAMN uncomfortable. I also wish they would create slightly smaller credit cards, or ultra-flexible ones

Seriously, even if you’re crap with a needle like me, it’s often easy to create an inner pocket inside the lining of a dress, shirt or other garment, to slip in a credit card and a couple of notes.

Heck, no!

Let me get you some change for that from my jockstrap.

I’m a gal and I don’t do this. However, I don’t think it’s tacky as long as money is removed or replaced descretely and you don’t sweat a lot on it.

Thirty years ago when I went thru recruit training (aka bootcamp) we were required to keep our money in little plastic pouches suspended from a chain and tucked into our bras. It was a delight - plastic pouch in the bra in the summer in Florida.

I always have a pants/shorts pocket or my fanny pack - I don’t need to use my bra for other than its original design.

I often keep my lighter in my bra, and occasionally money, but not change, and usually not on a hot, sweaty day. The funny thing is, I’ve had every reaction from “Oh, just buy yourself a purse” to “Damn, that’s hot!”

Last girl I knew who kept stuff in her bra was a prostitute.

Um…dont ask how I knew her… ;j

Are we talking silver dollars here?

Ouch. I tried it once and the bills were poking me. Plus I usually carry a phone and my ID/cash card too - no way am I sticking all that in my bra! I don’t carry a purse in the summer either, so I just carry a wallet. It will fit in my front pocket, so that’s where I carry my stuff.

I guess mini-cards haven’t reached Dubai yet.

I’ve only done it once. I put a £20 note in my bra when I didn’t have any pockets. I forgot about it and later felt something. I realised what it was and whipped it out. I was with a male friend at the time. He found it quite funny.

there is a joke in my family, that my aunt (who we all think is secretly rich) is not truely blessed by the breast fairy. she would be a 32a if she didn’t keep her money in her bra.

I’d say in a bar/club type situation, where it’s very easy to fall prey to pickpockets, and the attire may not have too many pockets anyway, it’s okay. In everyday life (such as the grocery store incident mentioned), it gets a bit tacky. But in high-pickpocket-alert scenarios, go ahead.
