Money Order Payment Option

I may not have searched hard enough but is there a philosophical objection to us paying for our subscriptions via money order? I don’t own a credit card, I won’t use paypal and almost any transaction i need to perform with vendors in the US is satisfactorally carried out with money orders. If we CAN use money orders any advice to make sure it gets to the right place and applied to the correct account?

Dancer_Flight, while the Chicago Reader has chosen not to accept Money Orders as a form of payment for subscription to the SDMB, you can get in touch with one of the volunteers in this thread from your local area who will accept your payment in Cheque, Cash or Money Order and sign you up using their credit card or paypal account in return:

If you still have difficulties signing up, do let us know.

The problem with money orders is the same as the problem with cash or check – it requires human intervention to process it. Someone’s time must be spent on it, and that means additional cost (even if soft cost) for the READER. Hence, only electronic handling.

I see that the thread that xash posted containing a bunch of us who are (or were) willing to help new members subscribe is quite long.

To make things simple Dancer_Flight, you can email me at greenfleurdelis@hotmail.com. I can take care of the subscription process and you can pay me via snail mail.

I infer that you are non-US based, so please let me know in the email if you have any problems paying in US Dollars. It might be easiest for a Doper in your geographic area to help you out. If you post your location someone else may step forward.
