background - I met a man on a flight and we exchanged email addies. Been keeping in touch for a few months now, but I’m cautious when it comes to giving strangers too much information about myself. ie. He sent me a Valentine’s Day gift, and I gave him a friend’s mailing addy to send it to, and he was alright with me with holding my own home address from him. I’ve also said my middle name is my last name.
Well, I’ve recently had some car probs… and he was so generous to send me a money order… to help me fix my car. It totally came as a suprise.
I can’t accept such a generous gift as this, not to mention it doesn’t have my last name on it.
So… I’m sending it back to him registered mail, but since it’s a money order, he’s ALREADY paid it in cash… will HE be able to take it in and get his money back?
I had a money order returned to me not very long ago (bought something from e-bay, seller had a change of heart, sent M.O. back to me, yada yada yada).
I went to my bank all prepared to plead and beg. It was unnecessary. All they had me do was write the words “not used for intended purpose” on the back of the M.O. and I was on my way back out the door, with cash, in a matter of seconds.
I don’t remember why, but I had a money order I purchased, with my signature, made out to someone else. I decided not to send this money order – again, I don’t remember why. It had already been made out to someone who wasn’t me, but I deposited it into my own bank account anyway without any problems. Ironically, it was into my checking account. Now I’m going to go nuts thinking about why the hell I bought a money order when I’d had a checking account.
Yeah, that’s kinda why I’m struggling to remember what the heck it was for. I generally try to avoid doing any business with anybody that just won’t take a credit/debit card.
