that’s on target.
There were plenty of recruits who slept through the few hours lessons on military history (aka propaganda) during basic. Not remembering or not agreeing with what was taught in no way ‘outs’ someone as lying about service. Certainly, not knowing or understanding history has absolutely nothing to do with one’s service. That BoomerSailor may not understand MAD is no more indicative of his (or her) service than not knowing the President of the Confederate States of America.
The Soviets believed nuclear war was winnable. That’s why they deployed first strike weapons like the SS-18 Mods 2 & 4, SS-20 in Europe and began developing orbital weapons such as FOBS. They were seeking a destabilizing advantage so that they could destroy American retaliatory nuclear forces and “win” the war. Fortunately for all of us, they never got the decisive advantage needed to launch a first strike.
So was boomersailor moonshot? That’s too funny
I tell you, if there was a “predict when the troll or jerk poster will be banned” pool, I would be the winner, instead of remaining every year in 7th place in our celebrity death pool. :)![]()
I remember that one hat old Smitty used to wear all the time. Oh he looked a fool wearing that hat along with his BCGs. He would tell me and that crewdog Harvey about his time at AUTEC, before he became one of the A-Gangers on the USS Ranger.
Ranger was the first American aircraft carrier to be laid down as an angled-deck ship (her elder sisters Forrestal and Saratoga had been laid down as axial-deck ships and were converted for an angled deck while under construction).[citation needed]
Looks like it. I love the smell of burning socks in the morning!
It’s not (or wasn’t) just a case of not understanding MAD, which isn’t even something I brought up. It was not knowing or pretending not to know that all those nuclear warheads on your boat were there to bring nuclear hellfire to cities, imagining that US cities weren’t going to vaporize in WW3, his sudden arrival to defend moonie and stroke him about how brave he was, and the very similar style of their/his posts.
Again, it’s not something I did lightly; the two (or one) of them are the only people I have ever called liars about military service on this message board, on the internet, or in real life to date.
Ha, almost posted my suspicions last night.
Banned already? Both moonshot925 and BoomerSailor? Hm.
Everybody please conveniently forget that I gave moonshot any benefit of the doubt.
walks away whistling

The key-operated switches were 12 feet apart, so it was impossible for one moderator to turn both.
The commander and deputy both had to turn their keys within two seconds of each other or the banning sequence would not happen.
And additionally, the final command to launch also required another outside “vote” (two moderators performing the same procedure at another Banning Control Center).
If everything was done correctly, explosive gas generators would push open the 110 (or 80, or 90)-ton blast doors covering the Message Board and Moonshot925 would streak toward the sky. Then the “POSTER AWAY” lights would illuminate on the commander’s console.

Or it’s possible that the mods had a 'Ban two military frauds for the price of one" coupon that was about to expire.
