MoP-ing up after the Cataclysm: Updated WoW General Discussion 8/22/12

Many thanks just what I wanted, not sure how i missed it :smack:

Found myself doing nothing but Archaeology this week, very strange as when I first tried it I gave up at about 50 skill points. My hunter is now level 83 though, gone from 80 with just arch and a few mob kills along the way.

Struggling from alt-itis as I am (2 90s, 1 88, 1 86 and have recently levelled two toons from 60 to 80/83) have to say hunters are a lot of fun, my main is my 'lock which is of course very similar but I can see this becoming my new main when I try LFR.

Pity my guild is dead, guild leader recently posted he has cancelled his sub but will be back for the new expansion, most nights it is just me a one or two others on.

Wow (heh)…a couple of weeks without a post to this thread. Dinged 90 on my tankadin, for my third 90. Very different questing experience on him. Virtually unkillable by non-elite mobs, which really simplifies the Dread Wastes dailies. Haven’t taken him to Thunder Isle yet, maybe try that this coming week.

Am tanking heroics, and that is all over the place. Some groups struggle to do 30K DPS per man, others have all three dps slots cranking out over 100K. Haven’t tried raid finder tanking yet…not sure I know enough about the mechanics to tank those, as I’ve only done them as DPS. I understand the tanks have to do various and sundry complicated things in even the first round of raids. DPS mostly has to not stand in bad and burn down stuff…

I was working on my 8th 90 (one of each class) when my computer took a dump. I won’t be able to play again until the new one arrives.

Just jumping in to report that “The Knights Who Say Ja” have climbed to guild level #21, thanks to jackaroe, jayjay and Mister Rik who have really kicked some major ass to get us there.

I’ve rolled a new toon called Wolkenlaufer (notice correct spelling! :)) a human hunter on Alex; Poldark, a warrior Night Elf; and Waldmeister, another human warrior. I have deleted my Pandaren and Death Knights for now, basically because neither are “me”, and, as you know, I put a lot of myself into my characters.

I also play on Rik’s server, Lightbringer and his guild, “Order of The Rik” and there I have several toons, three of which belong to “The Order…”; they are Waldbrenner, Waldteufel, Waldjäger, Meisterjäger, Hannës" and another Poldark (I wonder if anyone remembers the PBS series of that name?).

I don’t know how many of my former guildies are still playing the game, but y’all are welcome back anytime. I know it’s tedious rolling a new toon, but y’all are welcome just the same.

An opinion: I think the Guild Perks could use a little work as some of them seem repetitive.

Also a question: Apparently my Elf Druid has some partial healing powers now and I haven’t tried it yet, but how about I heal someone while they’re fighting. That would work, right?

Just wanted to update y’all and say, “Hey”.

Quasi

Okay, is there an official SD guild? Is that the one that is level 21?

BDBoop, you want “Burning Dog Legion”, located on the Cairne server.

Q

Oh, okay. Thank you. Alliance, or Horde?

But first, I want my new computer, which is en route. Then I will be able to play again.

I’m really quite proud of myself for not actually going through game withdrawal.

They’re Horde, sorry. Maybe someone will catch these last few posts and advise you further about getting an invite there when you get your new machine. Good on you for not going through withdrawal.

You’re also welcome to join the Knights if you wish. We’re on Alexstrasa, Alliance and we’re the ones who are level 21. We’re VERY casual. You’d think there’s over 20 of us, but in reality it’s just 4: all Dopers.

Q

Horde.

Gotta warn you though, it’s not a terribly active guild at this moment.

That’s what I thought (not being active). Other than BDL, I think maybe The Knights Who Say Ja are the only other Doper guild, but I could be wrong, BD (you’re a lady, right?). I just saw that you finished 8 level 90’s, so you would be more than welcome with us. I think we have one more to get to 90 and then we’d like to do some runs together.

Fair warning, me doing runs? I’m not very experienced, but can DPS and I had a LOT of help from everyone in this thread getting Wolkenlaufre to level 90.

No worries, I play both.

I believe I was rudely interrupted by my machine’s death when my paladin was about three blocks shy of 90. If I joined you guys, I’d probably do a DK so I wasn’t starting over at ground zero.

I have taken to pet battling at the end (beginning, really: Sun and Mon) of the week after I’ve done all my LFRs. It’s slow and boring, but I am slowly slowly levelling up a team - Hyjal Bear Cub, Lil’ Deathwing and Clockwork Gnome.

I got my pets to 14, and then just stopped. Focused on 90’s some more. I use Blizzard baby bear, Turnip and do not remember the other. Need game back. Waah.

If I remember right, you spec’d the druid Balance, aka “Boomkin”, and are essentially a DPS-caster. Your heals will work on you, or anyone else in the Alliance–I dunno if it is possible to heal Hordies, but then again, I’ve never tried. Dunno if doing that would flag you for pvp, either.

My Boomkin is 90, so I don’t know what spells you get at what level these days, but you can self-heal during tougher fights. Assuming you have your root spell, you can root a mob, run away to maximum casting range, cast one or more heals on yourself, and then cast damage spells at the mob while it runs towards you. Repeat as needed, being careful not to run into aggro range of other mobs. I soloed a rare that way in one of the Pandaria zones…took about 30 minutes, but I lived and got the loot (which sadly was worthless to me, so I disenchanted it for the materials).

Also–did you ever try doing scenarios on your 90?

I started out pet battling with a Terrible Turnip, until I finally figured out that the TT is incapable of delivering a killing blow. I hadn’t read his abilities closely enough, I guess. I thought he was just repeatedly missing after getting opponents down to 1 HP…

Anyway, I’m The Rik of <Order of the Rik> on Lightbringer (Alliance), which Quasi mentioned. The guild has pretty much just been my “vanity guild” since I founded it in 2009; all the toons were mine, except for one friend who kept a low-level alt in the guild purely to invite my alts. But he seems to be inactive these days, and in any case I have all 11 of my slots filled now. But Quasi has joined up with a few of his toons, and we’ve gotten it to level 13. My longtime main is my level 90 human ret paladin; I also have a 90 nelf shadow priest, an 87 draenei arms warrior, and an 85 draenei fire mage. The rest are rarely-played alts of every other class, ranging from level 12 to level 71.

I have two 90s in Quasi’s guild on Alexstrasza; a human sub rogue (who has actually become my main for MoP, after having a ton of fun with her during Cata), and a nelf BM hunter. Along with several alts.

Finally, I have a 90 tauren ret paladin in <Burning Dog Legion>, the SDMB guild on Cairne, but as I’m sure you know, it’s hard to keep up with so many 90s in MoP, and poor Donoma has fallen behind, gear-wise, because I hardly ever play her.

I’m not a raider, though (no interest), and I haven’t run a 5-man heroic since Wrath. I play to relax, and hearing about the community “atmosphere” in heroics in Cata, I just didn’t feel like subjecting myself to the stress. I’m a contented quester

In any case, I’m not logged into the game with great regularity at the moment, since we’re right in the middle of my job’s busy season. I’ve been so exhausted from work the last couple weeks that it’s been all I can do to just log in and manage my farms.

ETA: Oak, I think Quasi’s druid is a cat.

Terrible Turnip needs to be leveled because you will use his “one point left ability” to tame other pets.

You can’t heal members of the opposite faction, I know this bothered me when I was levelling my Holy paladin as he wanted to help anyone regardless of their loyalties.

My guild has died (again - this makes it 4 now!) so I am not playing much at the moment, Hunter dinged 86 and he is my skinner with skinning being my last profession I need to get to 600 and the Master of All achievement. I will probably wait until 5.3 and the reduced XP for MoP before I go back to him again.

Hey martu! It’s good to see you here again, my friend, as it is Der Oak, kuschie and all of you.

Yep, I finally feel comfortable enough to play other races and factions and… what they do and stuff.

I LOVE starting new toons, because that damn music gets me going, and I can’t help but think of “Game of Thrones” when I now play>

I know, y’all don’t think I understand “GoT”, and guess what?

I don’t!

I just know it was important to them all to climb the wall to Winterfell, and that beautiful redhead and the guy who loves her did it!

But that’s all I remember.

Before that, I don’t know jackshit.

So anyway, look us up! All the Walds… are present and just achin’ to FIGHT!

Thanks

Quasi

So, it appears that my new computer is nothing so much as a giant book end. It refuses to recognize wireless, and I have no clue how to make it do so.

I also plugged an ethernet cable into it. It didn’t recognize that, either. I keep getting error 651. Guess my seven year gaming streak is over.
